Yes - absolutely - rush out and buy it now!!!
But wait a sec - you dont know me from a bar of soap - so why would you take my opinion for it?
Unfortunately there are no free trials at the moment for you to try before you buy.
I am finding it a very enjoyable action game. Two friends who have been playing WOW since that was released are now playing with me. But too put it in perspective - I am a fan of action games - diablo, dungeonsiege etc. I also enjoy the occasional FPS session.
As a casual gamer - with limited play time it suits me well. I can jump in for an hour or two and its fast paced action.
If I am waiting for freinds to log on I can jump over to a control point base and help defend it from a major assault by the enemy.
If I want to run around solo to complete a few missions, that works as well.
There is no housing. Auction houses are in the works as are some sort of vehicles.
There are a variety of weapons from pistols, grenades, rifles, shotguns to machineguns and rocket launchers.
Class wise - everyone starts as a recruit and you can go down the specialist (support class) or soldier line.
That said - specialists are quite good at killing stuff - they just dont have the high powered damage weapons that the soldier classes get.
Travel is pretty fast even without vehicles. The starting maps arent too large, and you can map the teleporters at bases/outposts once you have been there so you can jump straight there from any other bases teleporter.
The game has two planets so far. Each planet has two continents and each continent has a couple of main maps. Story missions are mostly done in instanced missions.
Besides, you wouldn't be able to forgive yourself if you passed this very well made game.
ya this game is great and has many nice players as well. it is definately not a wait at your keyboard for an action to take place game like so many WoW clones because you have to switch weapons to attribute to who and what you are fighting as you progress through the game and the more you progress the deeper the story goes and you have to make personal decisions (like Mass Effect in a way) that will influence the game later on your character. All the classes are pretty sweet and the content they are adding within a few months are specific mechs for each class to get after getting a license for it at level 40, Auction Houses, more PvP things if it suits you, etc. This game is great and also has an amazing fanbase and the dev's also like playing an dhost things in game form time to time which is real fun. I even got to meet General British in game one night! Great game!
TR worth every penny I think I'll stay playing for like 3 years or more. I love this game since the beggining you feel like you are actually in a war and the instances are very cool and very fast to complete and finally i really enjoy the logos system.
But the feature that i like most is that it feels like a war is not like in WoW were you never feel that you are in a war. You are just questing and trying not to get pked. WoW is a great game one of my favorites but it pisses me off that they havent implemented conquering contested territories or a formal war between allies and horde but oh well.
Try TR you'll like it.
Tabula Rasa is Auto Assault without the cars.
If you liked Auto Assault then Tabula Rasa is probably a game you will like.
A player capped the game in the first 5 days after it went live, if you are looking for years of gameplay Tabula Rasa is going to be hard pressed to fill the bill.
Its worth buying in my opinion. Overall the game is a fun, fast-paced, MMO shooter. There have only been a few other MMOs like it, but those are all gone now anyway. So you definatly get a pretty unique gameplay experience. But most important the combat system and the fact the game is a big warzone is just plain fun and enjoyable.
Right now there doesn't seem to be much end-game with Tabula Rasa, but that's okay. Yeah there are the maniacs who have already hit 50, but for most people who started at launch they are somewhere in their late teens or twenties. Worrying about endgame is a while away for most people. So the devs over there have some time to add some endgame stuff.
When WoW launched there really wasn't a whole lot of endgame there etheir. There really only was Molten Core. All the other raids were added later. Battle Grounds were added later. Meaningful rep grinds were added later. Arenas were added much later. Heroics were added much later. Now you look at WoW and there is a load of endgame. So there is still plenty of time for Tabula Rasa to work out that part.
Also they have some systems they could improve. An AH to help create an economy would be nice, but that is in the works. The friends list could use some tweaking and the clan system could due to be expanded and given more options. Housing, guilds halls, would be nice. Maybe even a space element one day. A decent PvP system would be nice too. Now it pretty much only duels and clan wars. But again there is plenty of time to add to the game.
Right now Tabula Rasa is a fun, stable, and polished game. I recommend giving it a try.
If you want a new sci-fi mmorpg.
Go buy the game now!
It might not be for everyone, but I am loving the game!
after having played through closed and open betas as well as the pre-order preview - I'd have to say wait for at least 6 months until they've ironed out the deficiencies and added more content
right now it isn't worth the asking price
Asking price is £17.99 on Play.com...

This will be a reitteration for the third time. The player was a long time beta tester from day 1. He knew exactly where to go, what to do to a point of extreme efficiency. It just is not possible for anyone without prior knowledge to burn through it all unless you play 24 hours a day for 5 days straight.
I have played a total of 24 hours worth of game time, and haven't even brushed past level 16. Then again, I have a life outside of the MMO and tend to play casually, and for pure enjoyment. I don't understand why people play MMO's like NFS, there is no finish line, what are you racing for?

"The Regulators are proud to claim a Tabula Rasa World first with Syn reaching level 50 on 11/8/2007."
They're a PvP Clan, and apparently they're working to get most of their Clan to cap as quickly as possible for maximum success in Clan warfare. Make of that what you will. Link to their website and the statement I quoted above: www.theregulators.org/TR2006/index.asp
