My wife loves MMORPG's. She played EQ with me all the time. Now we are waiting for EQ2. I think theres alot more girls out there, they just dont visit these boards like us compulsive idiots. When I was on EQ I would say a good 30-35% were female. (female in RL, not just playing female chars).
Laying in bed, looking up at the stars, a single thought passed through my head. Where the fuck is my roof?
I can't speak for every server, or game, but there was probably a close to 50/50 split of females to males on Kettemoor when I played SWG. There was even an all girl guild that was started becuase apperantly some of the boys had a hard time playing nice with women. There were a ton of threads about the guild as they did pretty well for themselves in all aspects of the game. In these threads many secrets were revealed, like not all female avatars have female players, but also not every male avatar has a male player. Apperantly there were quite a few females that had, or were playing male characters to avoid the incessant sexual harassment, or just so they would be given a fair shake.
It was also pointed out many, many times, that most female gamers don't want things given to them because they're female. So if some female avatar bats their eyelashes at you to get you to give them free gear, or something, you are most likely dealing with a man.
For the record, I am male, though I prefer to play female avatars most of the time. They just look better than the male ones more often than not. And if I'm going to stare at my virtual ass for an extended amount of time, it might as well be a female one.

Looking at more pleasant scenery is the reason I run female characters in single player CRPGs for me as well.
In MMORPGs, I have to keep my male identity. Just too many potential oppurtunities for sociological strangeness for me to deal with. I don't need to deal with the whole "So am I a lesbian, now?" question.

i prefer playing with girls on mmorpg's because i have had less trouble with them trying to back stab me.but not everyone can have my luck (yes i did sell my soul to this dude)
