The day has come! ToA has been removed completely from the test server, and is in the near future to be removed from all servers completely! Does this mean that DAoC will really start to grow on a continuous basis again? Does it prove that the dev team, and the company behind it, is in fact counting on supporting DAoC way out in the future? What do you think??

No its warhammer online all the way.
No, it most likely means that because the population of DAoC continues to dwindle, the general consensus of the remaining public is that ToA should be ruled out. It never would've happened if WAR hadn't had development started on it. After EA took over, a lot of players were really disgusted with some of the things they decided to do with the game. Consequently, over half of the game population left.
Now the only people that still play are the hardcore DAoC fans that never wanted ToA in the first place...e.g. the ruling out of said expansion.
<shrugs> it's easy to see if you played the game as long as I did. From launch, til EA take over, I was a hardcore DAoC addict. Just couldn't stay after it all...
Or they simply could just be changing the pendragon server to do a temp classic test.
They have enable PVP there before for mordred testing.
The latest patch notes say nothing about the removal of TOA so I think your jumping the gun a bit. Classic and TOA are different communitys. Those that dont like TOA have Bossiney, those that do, have the rest of the servers.
Ah, yes that could of course be it! Maybe I just did jump the gun a bit....unfortunately
removing TOA would piss off half of their player base. TOA is relatively easy to do now, however, redoing a template is still a pain in the ass.
A change to remove classic would ruin EVERY person on TOA's template, and that alone would make many people quit.
Personally I play classic and toa, and can see the benefits for both
I thought the changes were removing the ToA and earlier clients and had nothing to do with ToA content. Essentially, you must have catacombs or darkness falls client to play AFAIK. Which really isn't that big a deal. About 55-65% of the online population is on ToA clusters at any given time, so the content isn't going to disappear anytime soon.
Just because they are removing it fro test, doesnt mean they are removing it from the game. Last I checked there were 2 test servers. Perhaps they are just making one TOA and the other Classic

I think you misunderstood. The announcement reads that they are removing the ToA client from the test servers and will, eventually, be removing it from the live servers in favor of the catacombs client. They aren't removing the ToA content, they are just phasing out the client, which means everyone will have to play on the Catacombs client from now on, which they are giving everyone for free. Really it's just a move to consolidate the work load so they don't have to continue to take more then one client into account while developing future content.
At least, that's how I understood the announcement. At first I too thought they meant that they were totally removing ToA from the game, but after thinking about it for awhile I remembered that they did the same thing a few years ago. Not long after ToA was released they phased out the Shrouded Isles client and had everyone download the ToA client for free. It really does make sense as developing for more then one client must really suck.
This announcement has confused people..... it does not mean TOA is going away.
When DAOC first came out....it had what we'll call the "1st" client. Then came SI...and a new client was literally added to your desktop if you bought the expansion. You could chose to play the new client, with the new features, or use the old one which didn't have the new features, but still let you fight along side the other players.
TOA came out..and now your desktop literally had 3 clients on it..... except eventually, the removed the "1st" client from the game..so now you could only use the SI or TOA clients. Next comes catacombs...another new client..... which incorporated all the features of the previous clients.
So now they are getting rid of the TOA client...but not the TOA features, which have been incorporated in the latest client they are using.
