just a quick question that was bugging me will characters be limited the the type of weapons they can chose? for example can an orc choppa or black orc use a 2 handed weapon? can a black guard use anything besides the giant halberd? i understand that some classes such as a maurader and witch elf are limited to duel wieling but with just swords?
When girls ask me for my number i ask them for their level.

I would think there would be some type of restriction among the classes. But I dont really think mythic has mentioned much about this topic. I plan on playing a Chaos Chosen, just imo, I would think the chaos chosen weapon choices would be 2hd sword and axe, 1hd sword and axe, and a shield. And no range, other then a skill or 2 for range. But its really hard to guess at something like this heh
You should think the Back Gaurd can use halberbs, but he can't. I read an interview with a staff member of mythic and he said the Black Gaurd cannot use halberbs. Im also very curious what they can use, but they aren't saying too much about it. I think you just have to wait until the release more information about it.
I'd imagine there will be restrictions but as for what they are I don't recall hearing yet. Dual wielding is usually restricted to sword and dagger combos, though with a choppa I suppose it's possible they might add an option to dual wield one handed axes.
It's very rare that classes are limited to just one choice of weapon but you're usually encouraged to stick with something suitable for your class i.e. magic classes use staffs, DPS use two handed or dual wield, tanks use one handed plus shields etc.

WAR is coming. Look busy.
You might want to cite your source, cause that sounds like bs to me. The halberd is the iconic weapon for the black guard, hell the only concept art we have for the bg has him holding one.
O, sorry i just checked again and i miss understood it. Probably, because of my bad english. I quote:
Q) Can Black Gaurds only use halberds?
A) Nope.
Maybe i did not saw the "only". Soz
I believe there are some weapons that only certain classes can be proficient in, yes
Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
well they are making it really racial so it will depend on your race and class to see what weapon your gonna use
like blackorcs cant use a dwarf hammer or w/e
so your weapons are definetly race restricted but the black orc, I think they can use 2h but not entirely sure
this spam smiley is great I just wanted to add that in the post cause I never seen it before :P
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion,I gain strength, through strength,I gain power, through power,I gain victory, through victory,my chains are broken. The Force shall free me.
I hope so, if I see a Bright Wizard running into battle with a two hander or a Black Orc holding a Shaman's staff then there is definantly something wrong.
Well considering one of the older Podcasts with Paul has him shouting about how Dwarf Hammerers can only use Hammers, I would say there's a very good possibility that there will be a wide range of weapon restrictions and specific weapons for specific classes.
"There is as yet insufficient data for a meaningful answer."
i think gamesworkshop has a tight grip on this project. They let mythic have creative freedom just as long as it fits into the WAR lore. So i wouldnt be shocked if gamesworkshop passed down who can use what.
Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.
If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

Although I absolutely love watching Pauls videos there is one simple fact...Paul gets REALLY REALLY excited when he starts talking about the game.
If you watch a recent video release where Paul is talking about the Shadow Warrior class they actually have to stop the video midway and insert a brief dialogue regarding changes to what Paul has already said. So although the lore dictates what a players character can and can not do, Games Workshop may have given a bit of flexability in order to lessen the player restrictions within the game. I could be wrong, but thats my two cents.
P.S. Paul if your out there reading this, my wife and I love your videos.

Lol, I remember that podcast and it was stopped for a simple reason, he was clearly wrong and conveying a wrong image of that class in that he made it look like they could melee as well as they could use their ranged weapons which simply wasn't true ^^ (or not supposed to be at that time anyway, what do I know about what's in game now )
In the Warhammer world, other races' weapons get used quite often, in fact, orc bosses are notorious for using looted dwarf weapons. The Empire trades for dwarven weapons, etc, etc.
I have to fine the links but the classes are all weapons limited in one regard or another:
Black Orcs can pretty much only use 'choppa's'
Warpriest: can only use hammers but they can use both one and two handed hammers(might also be able to use mace type weapons... )
Sword Masters: If i need to tell you, then your a pretty sad indivdual. But they can use all types of swards, one and two handed
Hammers: Two handed hammers. I should not need to say this, but you never know, some one reading this might have eaten paint chips as a lad.
Iron Breakers: I know they use axes, not sure if they are allowed anything else
Witch Hunters: One handed weapons and guns, not sure if they are limited to swords or not.
Witch elves: Knives, and quite possibly swords.
Archmages: Paul stated that they were limited to staffs, but would be awesome with them.
As you can see, most classes wont get a lot of choice when it comes to weapons, but you will generally have some kind of choice... Unless your class is named after a specific weapon.
And anyone who thinks Sword Masters should be able to use ax's and Hammer's should use guns, needs to be put in an insane asylum.
Mythich is pretty much sticking with the iconic weapons for most classes, so you most likely wont get a wide range of weapons to choose from as a tank or melee DPS..
And while this may disappoint some i really dont see the problem with not having a huge selection of weapons to choose from, unless your the type of person who just has to be different .. like someone who wants to use an ax instead of a hammer on a Hammerer.
