I just wanted to know how expensive ammo is for higher level players. ( purchasing with ease without having to go farming for an hour to make money to buy ammo ).
I leveled from 1-7 last night just testing out a ton of abilites etc and seeing how the game played. I was using a shotgun mostly, and had a little fun with a machinegun. The one thing i noticed.. i went threw SOOO MUCH AMMO. I kept having to return back to a base to buy more ammo. Id look at my credits.. notice i had 8000+ credits so id buy 1000 ammo. ( alot i thought for shotgun ). 30 mins later.. im up maybe 1000 credits ( without quests ), and almost out of ammo. So basically.. if im not questing.. im burning 2000 credits to make about 1000 in return + xp and this is at its lowest level.
So.. i was wondering... does purchasing ammo at higher levels become a pain? Im not over-killing mobs, nor am i going in like rambo and wasteing ammo. I started a new recruit that i hoped would be a grenadier... but if all the high level weapons require top notch expensive ammo, am i gonna regret it?
Im sick of having to farm 2 hours a day in order to enjoy a game. WoW was best for that. 2 hours of grinding = 20 mins of fun.
Also.. if there is anyone out there using swords, staffs, or hand - hand.... PLEASE let me know how you like it? I trained hand to hand rank 1 ( in case i run out of ammo ) but would like to know if anyone has tested the sword wielding spy class..

Hmm, your experience is vastly different from my own. I only played up to level 20, but my level 20 Ranger had around 230k credits to her name. The biggest drain on resources was funding my clone at level 15. I gave the clone 50k credits, and she was up to around 80k at level 18. I just never found money to be an issue at all, though I didn't use chain-guns, either. Those things will definitely cut into your bank balance. Also, I never used shotguns on single targets. I tended to soften groups from a distance with my rifle, then take them out with my pistol when they got close.
Credits start rolling in pretty quickly to the point where buying ammo doesn't seem to be an issue for me past level 15. I'm using a polarity gun that burns through ammo like crazy, in addition to crab mines/shield extender that use expensive micromech and I still can't seem to use all my credits. There is a lot more items you have to restock later then just ammo for some skills, but at the same time I've never had a problem as long as I restock to about 5k of each ammo type each time I need to repair or return to a quest-giver. I've never had to return for ammo outside of that so far. The earlier levels are definitely harder on ammo though.
I couldn't tell you about swords/staffs but I tried hand-to-hand briefly on a clone and it was pretty fun with some seemingly ridiculous damage sometimes. I'd definitely consider it if I was any melee class.
I have to agree here, I never had problems with credits early on in the game either. I primarily used my rifle at all times except when I had multiple targets close then I'd go to shot gun. I rarely ever used my machine gun because it just blew through ammo.
Ammo, one of the reasons I'm having alot more fun in Hellgate London. All the fun, none of the drudgery.
yeah, chaingun / machinegun is too expensive.
Never really had ammo problems as long as I steered clear of that weapon. But then I also don't hold the trigger down and blast constantly with any gun....I take my shots carefully.
Maybe use specials to finish off enemies instead of firing that second round?
Yes, it definitely helps to lead with a strong offense. I got both Firearms and Rage to 5 as soon as it was possible to do so, which absolutely reduced my ammo needs by an order of magnitude. Not everyone has access to Rage, but everyone can (and should) get Firearms to 5. Just doing that will decrease the ammo you need by 40%.
agreed, although I use shrapnel instead of rage, myself. (and scrap metal drops off everything anyway).
On topic, money shouldn't really be much trouble, if you PLAY the game, this means no waisting bullits but bring in alittle tactics into your play, use different type of weapons instead of one who might consume lots of ammo (machinegun type), also get use at using your skills instead of only ammo, your skills will damage your target more then regular ammo does in most cases and when choosen the right set of skills and knowing when and how to use them afcourse.
But....
Money might become slime when you start with crafting, those who don't craft can become rich very quick, those that do craft, and with that i mean the 2 type of crafting , so like normal craft and upgrading will eat allot of credits if you going heavy into it 5k credits for lvl 5 upgrade recipy's, 10k credits for lvl 10 upgrade recipy's ect ect.....
Just a comment about game mechanics and how some take alot of enjoyment out of a game.
I'm at 19 and I have about 213k; I buy ammo 8k at a time, and while the Polarity gun goes through it pretty fast, it's not a big drain on my resources or time I've yet to run out, at least, and I LOVE that there are vendors in all of the instances.

Ever thought of it as pure being YOUR personal opinion, which does not have to be the same for everyone, some like it your way , some like to actualy use some tactics when playing, not saying you aint using tactics, but to each his own. Kinda similair to me loving decay in pre-cu SWG but unfortuanyl the majority of complainers during pre-cu hated decay.
