EA the Mothership will ruin Bioware

Reading all your guys posts on BioWare's New MMO I seem to notice something is missing hmm I quite can't put my finger on it....Oh yah, I dont see any of you guys mentioning  the Mothership that Bioware now has to answer too, in case some of you have forgotten EA now owns Bioware/and Pandemic Studios meaning that they have voting rights as primary shareholders, and what that means to EA is Ka-ching.....RPG and MMORPG

is the only Venue that has escaped EA's Greedy paws but now with it's heavy hitter in it's line up thats all changed....OR SO they would think....EA's Primary Goals go like this #1 make money #2 Keep Investors Happy and there Millions in EA's HOldings #3 Gobble up Awesome Developers, and then Spit them out like yesterdays newspaper....Bioware will now have to (WHETHER THEY WANT TO OR NOT) adhere to strict

deadlines which EA's known for notoriously ala EA.SPOUSE letter, I'm sure most of you guys have read it.    IN 2005 i was telling some of my best friends that if Bioware ever Developed an MMO that I would open a website  and be a beta tester, but I don't support EA Garbage.  Let's go back in time and see How many games and developers that EA has ruined in the name of Greed.

Westdood

Dice:   BF2 and BF 2142-the cries of the massees for EA to stop the Hackers in those two games can be heard all around the world, but EA just sits back and counts its millions while they go unheard.

Mythic Dawn

Maxis

List can go further but I think you get the picture.....

the minute EA acquried Bioware, Bioware lost 20 of it's employees already, EA is venturing into the world of MMORPG without knowing NOTHING about Customer Support, they are the worst customer Support Publisher in the History of Gaming, If you guys think BIOWARE has time to be dealing with the 1000 things that come up after an initial launch of an MMO they you guys are dreaming, EA will have them working 90 hours a week plus to crank out the next KOTR 12 , My friends I know it hurts, when I read about the take over my heart sank and went out to the Bioware community,  in the Bioware Forums its pandemonium, because they know that all EA is is a power hungry, destroying, cancer publisher that all it knows is Rinse and Repeat, there only successful story in gaming is destroying Game developers, and there #1 Goal is making money, and they Never, never!  have the best interests in gaming .....US.

Of course another option would be to wait till the game came out and see what it's like then...maybe they'll suprise you!!!

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

I can come up with 2 reasons to ignore the fact that EA bought Bioware for now (though I agree with you that it's a bad thing)

    1) It won't be happening officially until January 2008

    2) We don't yet know exactly what kind of effect EA being in charge will have.  I know its fun to be cynical (I'm really good at doing that), but it's really not productive to whine about it right now until we know for sure what affect it will have.  EA now owns Bioware...yay...what good will it do us to continually broach that topic?  I think it's better to focus on the MMO and hope for the best.  Because this deal is happening, there's no going back.

EA owns (will own) Bioware/Pandemic.  They are not primary shareholders because Bioware/Pandemic is not publicly traded.
the minute EA acquried Bioware, Bioware lost 20 of it's employees already
I find that hard to believe.  EA doesn't own BioWare yet, no money has been exchanged.  The deal won't go through until January which means EA can't fire anyone until then.  Do you have a link to this?
I guess you're being sarcastic and saying that because EA owns (will own) Bioware that means they will automatically lose 20 employees at some point in the future.  Again, history say's that's likely, but we still don't know.  Everything I've heard so far suggests Bioware will retain a large amount of autonomy within the company with Ray and Greg retaining a large amount of control.

Omg! THE SKY IS FALLING! THE SKY IS FALLING!!!!

No required quests! And if I decide I want to be an assassin-cartographer-dancer-pastry chef who lives only to stalk and kill interior decorators, then that's who I want to be, even if it takes me four years to max all the skills and everyone else thinks I'm freaking nuts. -Madimorga-

A Bioware Developer confirmed this on the Bioware forums....not just saying stuff

Not saying I don't believe you, but do you have a link or a quote for that?  I just haven't seen it.  And did they say it was because of EA?

I think Bioware founders were simply offered the offer they can not refuse.

    I mean 600mil$ in cash ?!?!?! + another 200mil$ = 800mil$ .... almost a billion  dollars !!!!!!

And honestly - what did EA buy ? Just a name and rights to some named games.

Studio is not the NAME - studio are the people, and nothing is holding them (and they will be fired anyway , knowing EA) to go and form another studio

    Perhaps new "Black Isle" ?

I think the guys at Bioware actually pulled a short one on EA and just got dirty rich

Not if they were required to sign a Non-Competing Agreement (which I would assume EA would have lawyers write up).  Then if they did, EA would sue their asses off.
