This is for every1 who critisize soccer and dont even know the most basic terms of the games (you must watch a minimum of 50 games from different leagues to say that you know the game)

basic terms:

1. Cleets = boots

2. field = pitch

3. out-of-bounds = touch line

4. golie = keeper

5. foward = striker

6. 4 defenders = back four

7. game (the act of playing a game)= match

8. 1 verbal warning from a ref and after that a yellow card.  Yellow card = caution, red card = 2 yellows or 1 very dangerous play ( something that had the potential to injure a player or potentually end their career, lik a cleet level with a players face)

facts:

a friendly match is a match that doesnt count for anthing, they usually pair up a powerhouse team and a inexperienced team to give the inexperienced some playing time vs big teams ex. USA vs Brazil, Italy vs. south africa, germany vs san marino (LMFAO 6-0), Australia vs. USA (LMFAOOOOO 32-0)

its the keepers defence

 

4-4-2 = formation, 4 defence, 4 midfields, 2 strikers

3-5-2 = formation, 3 defence, 5 midfielders, 2 strikers

formations etc...

a world cup is hosted every 4 years, and up untill this year there was a rotaion policy by FIFA ( FEDERALE INTERNATIONALE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATIONE) in that every 4 yrs a country in a different continent would host the world cup ex. Europe, africa, north america, south america, asia, australia ( but not always the exact country of australia but also including the islands surrounding australia like the phillipines)

the first world cup was won by uraguey in 1930, with argentina in second and USA in third

1934 italy wins

1938 italy wins again ( italy is the first country to successfully defend their title as world champions)

1982 italy wins

2006 italy wins

brazil has 5 world cup titles, italy in secound followed by argentina with 3.

their have only been 7 countries who have ever won a world cup, (brazil, italy, argentina, uraguey, england, germany, france

Mexico arent that good thet is just a steriotype (guadamala beat mexico, and so has USA on several occasions, we beat them in the final of the gold cup to win the cup.) because they are the closest country to us that play soccer internationally ( mexico is 15th in the FIFA world rankings whereas USA is 18th)

italy is third in the FIFA rankings, argentina in 1st, brazil in2nd france in 4th, germany in 5th

(btw for sakib-- bangladesh is in 172 out of 200 countries lol)

Italy is first in UEFA ( EUROPES REGINAL LEAGUE FOR INTERNATIONAL TEAMS)

TIPS FOR PLAYING SOCCER

If you use too many tricks then you will most likely lose the ball, theres a differnece between being a good player and knowing how to do tricks

when shooting or even passing the ball and you use the tip of your foot, you shot be thrown off the field, because you use the area of your boot where your laces are for maximum power when shooting and the iside of the foot when passing.

only shoot wen you know for a fact that it will go in, especcially if you are losing or tied, that just wastes time and opportunities.

if u are on defence, always stay infront of the approaching striker with your bakc towards goal, if they cant get a shot off, then they cant score.

if your a striker PASS THE FREAKIN BALL, YOUR NOT RONALDINHO!!!!!!!!

if your midfield, your job is to back up the strikers, so dont tell the defence to go back on defence on a throw in YOU ARE THE OFFENSIVE CHUNK OF THE TEAM, SO LET THE DEFENCE THROW IT IN

Strikers are just midfielders who know how to keep the ball and shoot with power and accuracy, midfielders are  players who arent very good in one specific area, but are good all around and they are ussually some of the fastest players on the team, defenders are ussually the most aggressive players on the team they are not exactly know for breaking top scoring records, but are ussually known for the most yellow cards.

 

so congradulations, you now know about 2% about the game of soccer, now you can get started on watchin your minimum of 50 games to say you know the game.

 

 

PS soccer fans, jesus i didnt even realize how much there is abnout soccer, my hand is numb from jus typing this, i know dat i dont even got a total of 5% of all the facts about the greatness that is soccer, please fill in your friends and spread soccer in this country (USA) , i cant wait to c it become one of the biggest sports in america ( AND NO IM NOT SAYING THAT THE OTHER SPORTS IN AMERICA SHOULD NOT EXIST, SO NON SOCCER FANS, DONT KILL ME ABOUT HOW AMERICAN FOOTBALL IS TEH BEST CUZ I DONT REALLY CARE)

I knew pretty much all of this, and I know for a fact that the majority of the website will either flame or ignore this thread.  It pretty much came out of nowhere.

Where did you copy/paste this from? I would assume people critisize soccer maybe because they don't like the sport or it dosen't interest them. With that being said, they might wouldn't care about these facts and terms.

pps. you posting this will do precisely nothing for making soccer more popular in the US...this country does not, and will never care about soccer on the same level as we care about basketball, baseball, and football.  hell, even hockey is more popular here.
