Lindo posts a very good point over on the funcom forms:
"We have this thread where Athlean and Oberwesel ask us to post in the existing thread and they even provide a link to the thread with almost the same title.
http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthread.php?t=44761
Then we have Tahitoa asking as not to raise old threads from the dead
http://forums.ageofconan.com/showthr...=38598&page=26
I have an idea! How about you guys talk to each other instead of contradicting each other. Make up your minds. People want to have a discussion about leveling so where exactly would you like us to post oh wise ones?"
Now, can you guess what happened to the post? I bet you can. I mean seriously, Lindo is right, how can we communicate with the devs if every time we brought up an old topic to ask new questions, mods lock, delete, or tell you to stop when the DEVs specifically ask you where to post. Stuff like that is so depressing it isn't even funny.
Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware
"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

You will never see mythic do this, i'll take all bets on this one also.
HINT mythic doesn't use their own forums , thus they can't
"Society in every state is a blessing, but government even in its best state is but a necessary evil; in its worst state an intolerable one ..." - Thomas Paine
From my understanding, here is what the are asking you to do:
1. Do not make a new thread on a subject that has been covered in hundreds of others.
2. Do not necro really old threads.
3. If you want to make a new topic, scan the first few pages of the forums for that topic before posting. If you see nothing than make the thread.
What they are asking is hardly unreasonable.

You are missing the point. When the devs specifically ask you to post in a particular thread on a particular topic and you do as the dev asked you to do, why do the mods get on you for posting in the said thread per the direction of the DEV. That is just insane and a total lack of communication on the devs and mods part.
I understand in business you shouldn't have devs telling mods how to do their jobs and vice versa, but if you are a dev and you want to keep a topic to a certain thread the mods should honor that request of the dev. And their 3 rules as you pointed out, imho are stupid.
You have 90% of forum readers that have no clue how to navigate forums search tools. If you abide by those 3 rules listed, no one should post anything ever again on the forums because it has all been posted before. The only time new topics should ever be posted is when the devs release new information about that game where there has never been a topic about in the forums.
I'm sorry, but that is what you get when you sum up their 3 rules as you posted them.
That is simply disrespectful for the entire community.

Hey Grig the best answer you will get won't be from posting on these forums.
They just took a bunch of new moderators on who overall have been doing an alright job so far, cutting down on all the +1 posts.
If you really want answers, just send a PM to Pharamond - Mr Drake is a cool guy, he has answered many of my questions before and I'm sure anything you say will be discussed and passed on.
Obviously you had to post this here because 'Moderation' isn't a topic for discussion on the official forums.
I think your reading too much into this, when you could get your answer pretty much within 30 hrs via a constructive PM to Pharamond.
The other point is that the Topic in question has been discussed a shit load of times. Honestly.
I think more that 90% of the forum posters know how to use the search button too - no need for that dig.
*EDIT: Athelan actually says "There is a thread where this was gone over exhaustively with the same thread title, try it for information." meaning he is being helpfull by saying that thread will enlighten the original poster question with all the information he needs. If I was the original poster in the thread in question I would click search and type in the name of the thread he put up, giving me the result in the top 3 posts.
OK, 90% was more frustration that anything, but the point stands. I've been on gaming forums for years and I can't do 1/2 the crap you come up with. Take for example when I asked about crafting, you brought quotes from those forums over to these forums. I have no clue how you do that. I'd be willing to be most people here on the forums don't know how to do that.
Fact of the matter is, I'm more interested in the content of the forums, not operating them. That is where the good people such as yourself come in handy. Someone asks a question and you (and good people like you) that care know how the forums work well come up with all the right information. It makes you (and those like you) an extremely valuable part of the community. Just like Ksberge on the Acolyte forums, no one knows where he comes up with 3/4 of the links he finds. There are individuals like you and Ksberge that are true masters of this stuff where the majority of us rely on you wisdom and appreciate the time you guys take to find stuff for us.
Anyway, thanks for the reply.

I know your just frustrated, just put that across in PM in a decent way and I'm sure you will get a decent response back.
If they feel its being talked to death already it prob already has, like the "pixel breast" nudity subject hehe.
Well, many of the mods are volunteers.. You can't expect them to have read every post made on the forum, they're just following the guidelines that have been given to them by funcom on how to run the forums..
I haven't found this to be a large problem, but some problems are bound to occour and I think it's being blown a bit out of proportion

Oh my God! This is very serious issue. Makes you think of all those evil and unfair moderators.
