Don't be hesitant to ask for help in game, it's alot more fun with a little help, and there are always people around who will. Also, take the time, to tweak the message windows and chat channels, makes the whole thing more manageable...
BTW, it is definately a quest driven game, a few stages where alot of hunting is required, but for the most part advancement is through single or group quests.
AC2 is well worth the 14 day free trial, you should hit level 10 very fast. Just look for me, Vor Kolt on thistledown, I can show you the ropes of the game. Expect major changes to the crafting system on June 30th
(BTW this is the only game that changes month to month, with new content in monthly episodes and a yearly story arc, no other game does it. Its what keeps me playing for over 18 months now)
I have to agree. The first 10 lvls do come fast, but lvl 15 is where character development realy starts since that is when you pick what kind of class you want to be. Also, asking for help is a good idea but don't have someone just run you through everything. You really don't get a feel for the game that way. Getting lvls is always good but having no idea what is going on isn't. Take note of the lore in the game as well. Turbine has put a lot of effort into their story line and it is on going and changing from month to month.
The only real problem the game has is that it has a bad rap. At release of the game in 2002 I would have said that the game probably deserved it. But over the past year and a half Turbine has really turned the game around. Microsoft is almost completely out of the picture now, YAY, and game systems are working properly. The crafting rewrite (which was strongly needed) is being released at the end of this month and it improves upon the old system in so many ways.
But I would definatly reccommend AC2, especially for the 14 day free trial. You never know, you might actually like it.
i loved the trial when i d/l'ed it like 2 months ago! too bad im already subscribed to TSO and SWG or else i would definitley subscribe to this... ill be dl'ing it again tonight and ill tell you later on what server ill be playing on and my name.I hope to see some of you in-game
I downloaded the free trial of AC2 and gave it a try. Didn't much care for it myself, but I guess I can see why some people might like it. Certainly there are worse MMORPGs out there, but there are also much better ones in my opinion like DAoC and CoH.

ac2 has its flaws, but it also has its strenghs, maybe one of its flaws is something u would enjoy but since it isnt working well maybe ur not interested?
I've been playing SWG since launch and AC2 for a little over a month. Of the two I find AC2 much more enjoyable. The videos at the end of vaults that give a little story are awesome, haven't seen that in much games. AC2 has it's flaws though, one thing that I didn't like was the no merchant thing. The trade channel though makes up for that, but not at n00b lvl's since you have no money and don't know anyone. People are pretty helpfull though if you ask them right. Crafting System is kinda anoying too, but they're putting in a whole new crafting system on June 30th.

Ouch! That's a low blow. SWG is one of the better MMORPGs to date... just because it has a few downs and up... AC2 is NO WHERE better then anything right now.
I can remember when Microsoft put ALL the servers as one... and there was still less then 1,000 people total! HAHAHA...
AC2 sucks, blows and swallows... so please... don't be so stupid to say something is good when you fully know it sucks ass.
Once you've played AC2 for a few days, you'll notice a lot of things missing.
For one, there's NO ONE in town... all the towns are missing NPCs, there's NO ONE in the game... since the game sucks ass... you can't buy anything! You have to find all your items, the crafting system sucks!
We already know just because it has decent graphics doesn't make it a decent game. I really wish people wouldn't be so blind and ignorant sometimes. . .

I've played EQ, DAoC, UO, CoH, Horizons, SWG, EVE.... I'm not saying AC2 is brilliant, but in my opinion it is better than SWG in terms of playability. I want to play mmorpgs not just look at pretty graphics and mission grind in SWG.
Wow... you have no idea what in god's name you're saying.
AS2 has no playability! You can't do crap! You have to run from one place to another...
SWG is so much better! You can CRAFT! CAMP! You can scout, build things, look different... you can pick more then three races! There's PEOPLE you can talk to... not evenone is level 50+.
Just keep playing, you'll see AC2 is absolute garbage. I'm not speaking out of opinion, I'm speaking facts.

How am i blind and ignorant. I just expressed an opinion. I agree there are very few people in AC2, and it needs a bigger community. To be honest i haven't played a game yet that totally satisfied my RP needs (well maybe UO).
Maybe i will get bored soon, but my initial impressions are good.
I'm not saying you're right or wrong, but I'm truly expressing how horrible the game is. I've done the whole game for a few months, then redownloaded the trial...
I enjoyed it before when there was things... it's just a very small community right now... nothing's really changed other then Turbine buying the rights back from Microsoft.
Who knows!? Maybe Turbine redid the whole thing.. but in my eyes... I think they should of had NPCs in towns and shops... but that's just me.

I've done all that mate, and got very bored. SWG was a waste of some of my life time. It sounds like it might be the first mmorpg you've played (apart from AC2). Have a look at some others. None are perfect, but most are better than SWG.
You can 'look different'? Woopeee, that's not exactly what i want from a mmorpg.

I agree, but then no one seems to get it right these days, every game has something missing.
Originally posted by Djin I've done my fair share of games, so I don't need any crap from you. 10 years of MMORPGs is pretty impressive. I know what I'm talking about... I bet you're going to say EQ is the best thing since slice bread too!?
Actually no, EQ is a boring level grind, same as most other mmorpgs. I was bored the other night, so re-subbed to EQ for a bit and it looks really old now, even compared to AC2. Horrible square graphics, even with all expansions and high spec machine.
What's with the offensive language anyway, i thought this was a serious discussion?
Sorry if i offended you.... hang on... 10 years and you still think SWG is good? I guess experience doesn't count for much.
I've read all the post but im still pretty pissed for running miles for 45 min to get to a destination point during moving to the stones. I will retry the trial tomorrow and see if i really like it.
SWG was pretty fun in trail too. The only thing that pissed me off was the lag in cities I had. My computer is awsome but WTF . . .

I haven't played AC2, but it's hard to think that anything can be worse than playing SWG!
