8600GT Twin Turbo VS. 8600GTS

Okay narrowed it down to two cards I think. the MSI nVidia GeForce 8600GT Twin Turbo or the MSI nVidia GeForce 8600GTS. Obviously the 8600GTS has better performance, but the thing is that the 8600GTS is an open box item from newegg, which puts it in the same price range as the 8600GT at regular price. So I guess what im asking is is it worth the risk or if there even is a risk, im not surte i never ordered open box before.

The 8600GT Twin Turbo I especially like because it has a really good cooling system on it and I am into overclocking, and could really use it well. Also the twin Turbo has a button on the back of it that turns up the clock speeds of the GPU whenever it is pushed. I can set that to go to whatever settings I want. So that means I can save the life time of that card for a while because the thing wont always be overclocked, only when im playing a game or something.

Oh, and dont suggest the Radeon HD 3850, it is too expensive, not in my price range. I gotta get this whole computer built for $500.

Anyway, here is a brief overview of the cards.

Name 8600GT TT
Core Clock 620mhz
Memory Clock 1600mhz
Stream Procs 32
Memory 256mb
Interface 128-bit
Mem Type GDDR3

Name 8600GTS
Core Clock 675mhz
Memory Clock 2000mhz
Stream Procs 32
Memory 256mb
Interface 128-bit
Mem Type GDDR3

The MSI Twin turbo cooler is the loudest cooler of ANY video card currently in market existence, the only thing that could rival it is the X1900XT fan. At this point you are probably thinking "well im not worried about noise", until I tell you the cooler dosent even perform that good due to a thin heatsink. Just get the GTS.

Get an X1950 or 7900.  They will perform much better and are about the same price.  The only draw back is they don't have DX10.

My thoughts exactly in the other thread he made and 100% correct.  As I said there- if you MUST have a DX10 card, you will be making a huge mistake with 8600 ANYTHING if you're intending to play DX10 games.

The DX10 game benchies I see with those cards are abysmal.  We're talking 40FPS + change at 1024x768 with EVERYTHING on LOW.  Start turning up the settings and the resolution- and the FPS crawls down to teens and single digits.

PLEASE DON'T DO THIS.  YOU WILL MAKE ME CRY!

Save an extra hundred bucks up and pull the trigger on an 8800GT.  Please god.  Someone give this man a 100 bucks!  I would but I spend all my money on bills and computer parts and I'm broke.  : (

Thats all good and all, the X1950 and 7900 are good cards, but he is doing himself and the person he is making the PC for a huge injustice by putting a 8600 in there. Xpyro, cant you skimp back on some other components so you can put a HD 3850 in there instead, I mean its only $20-$40 more than the 8600GTS....and it stomps the 7900 series and the X1950.
