What is wrong here - My system can not cope with TR? -

VylanasVylanas Member Posts: 10

Hi,

Last weekend I bought the game. I like it but its just to much of a pain to play it.

Everything set on the lowest specs and still it runs very bad + it looks like Kings Quest III from the old days.

My system is:

CPU: AMD 3000MHZ (single core)

Memory: 2GB

Videocard: Club3d ATI X1950 PRO 256MB AGP8x

Internet: 2.5 MB line via Television Kabel. (average speed 40 to 125 kb/s)

For Reference: World of Warcraft runs perfect in the highest settings and LOTRO runs okay in Ultra High settings, runs perfect in High Setting and runs okay in Very High settings. Bioshock runs average in High settings, runs okay in lowest settings.

Now what do I do wrong with TR? Is TR such a heavy game to play? Or is it bad programming like Vanguard? Or is my system not okay? Any pointers?

Thanks,

Vylanas.

The only thing I can think of you might try is DL and install  a couple diffrent drivers for your video card. For some reason the newest version will work with 99 out of 100 games but there is that one game that likes an older driver. Other than that I cant help you :( If your system can run LOTRO on ultra high there is no reason you shouldnt be able to do the same with TR.

I have AMD dual core X2 and 7800gt PCI-X and I have to play at 1280x1024, deferred lighting off, low textures to get a moderate 30fps.  ftp still drops when theres alot of action.   Good thing I'm picking up an 8800gt today...

    My system is:
CPU: AMD 3000MHZ (single core) Not bad, pretty decent....
Memory: 2GB, = good, asume you running XP...right?
    Videocard: Club3d ATI X1950 PRO 256MB AGP8x, not a bad card....but....AGP??
Internet: 2.5 MB line via Television Kabel. (average speed 40 to 125 kb/s) Seems rather low ...that is for a GAMER who frequently play's online games, i had 2.5mb with pre-cu SWG, jump to 8mb and now am at 20mb (in my personal experiance), actualy hardly or in most games never endure lag of any sort, hitching might occasionly happen but not lag in way's i see some people really having a hard time moving and such.

For Reference: World of Warcraft runs perfect in the highest settings. True WOW can be played on 7 years old computers, maybe that old can't handly high setting, but kodus for Blizzard to make a game that works as smooth as WOW, but keep in mind the game is very limited when you want to compare it to the posibility's in TR, also the grapghics thought tree/landscape are pretty similair to WOW the overall feel and look is far more detailed, the AI is ALLOT more evolved when comparing to to WOW, so overall you can not and actualy may not compare such a game to other games when going for a benchmark in performance
and LOTRO runs okay in Ultra High settings, runs perfect in High Setting and runs okay in Very High settings. tbh not sure why LtroO runs okay with you and TR isn't, thought some grapghic options are broader in TR, i would think you should get close to similair type of performance if LotrO works that good for you, so sorry not sure about this one. Bioshock runs average in High settings, runs okay in lowest settings. This one is easy....its a single player game

Now what do I do wrong with TR? Is TR such a heavy game to play? Or is it bad programming like Vanguard? Or is my system not okay? Any pointers? In no way can it be compared to Vanguard, Vanguard is a totlay different caliber of game and performance, where they admitted to have done things very wrong in coding,m which if correct is being polished by SOE atm. And to be honost, yes your system was okay 2 years ago ...sort of, sure it might run some newer games but simply don't expect to really enjoy those newer games in way's you "could" enjoy them. Pointers would be ...though it might cost you, is to go for a new system if its possible afcourse, as you kinda should go for a PCi- E card, which would mean a new motherboard, which would result in new memory, you using DDR1 i asume??, so overall a new system more up to date would do the trick, but i know it MIGHT not be possible, if it is don't upgrade the system you have...would be a waist of money ..really....if not possible today/tommorow next week, safe up till you can get the right machine, but don;t just think Tabual Rasa think of also new and still to be released games as your system is sort of at it's end.

Also please keep in mind i'm talking from a GAMER perspective, and i do admit i'm hooked on games, so maybe i would spend abit more then the casual type of gamer.

    Thanks,
    Vylanas.
