TR just another level grind fest nothing new not even combat!

Its really sad, i was really looking forward to TR, i was hoping the game was going to be the nextgen of MMOFPS, its too bad they have masked most of the game as nothing more than a level grind fest with mission repetition from map to map and only a few distictive mobs.

Its my humble opinion TR would have been much more enjoyable had their core skill system been based soley on skill rather than level. A Skill based system would have made this game much more interesting rather than the standard run-of-the-mill level grind thats currently TR.

Its a shame a game like TR with the name of RG behind it and its core engine isnt even has good as the original UltimaOnline.

Oh well, good luck to those that enjoy level grinding as TR offeres nothing new!

Well this game never claimed to be an MMOFPS. I mean if you were hoping it was at least LIKE an MMOFPS then I'd understand because I did too. If you'd like real MMOFPS action, go to PlanetSide.

Nobody said new, it was touted as being innovative, meaning it takes what already exists and changes it in some way.  Sounds like the game is not for you, no real reason to knock it, lots and lots of us are enjoying it

I'm afraid I have to go with the other posters.

TR is what they always said it would be (well, given the changes from the very first design).

It never claimed to be anything you include in your post.

Yep, if you want to have loads of pvp action i advice to play PLANETSIDE. TR doesnt offer that in its current state, it has loads of pve action and quests but not really huge pvp like in planetside.

an ultima online style skill system aka skill grind would be terrible imo.

I can't really give an opinion about the game itself, only about what I've heard about the game.  HOWEVER ...

I really have to question when people call any MMOG a "grindfest."  I'd like to know what exactly it is you are looking for.  Has any MMO ever lived up to your standards?  Has any MMO ever failed to bore you?

If not, you might want to consider that the entire genre is "not for you" rather than just this game.

In my experience, a lot of MMOs get labeled "grindfest" by people who go into the game with the intention of leveling up a character and nothing else.  Not exploring.  Not reading lore.  Not  interacting with other players or -- *gasp* -- roleplaying.  Not trying to work out quests without a walkthrough.

If this is how you play, EVERY game is going to seem like a grindfest, regardless of how much stuff there is to do.  If you don't bother to look for the fun in an MMO, there's no way you're going to find it.

P.S.  I'm not saying TR has anything good in it ... I don't know if it does.  I'm just saying I can think of only about two major MMOs that have deserved the label "grindfest."

Grind fest? Are we even playing the same game? Have you even played TR? If your the masochistic type then sure you could grind all your levels but in my case I grind as little as I can and level thru quest exp which is a far better use of time. Maybe the problem is with you and your choosing to grind out the levels? How you play is your choice but a bad choice on your part has nothing to do with this game.
It's funny how people think they're going to pick up a game and think that all of a sudden there will be absolutely nothing resembling a  repetitive task. You're living in a dream world buddy, life is full of repetition. Everyday you get up, eat and what ever thing you have to do. Every game requires some repetition on some level. You should try to mix it up. Do something different, try a different approach.

True humility cannot result from being declared as such. It's either there or it's not.

Combat is nothing new? Again, maybe thats because you haven't tried to take advantage of the differences in TR. For me I've had to rethink my entire way of fighting to always plan out my attacks to always use cover. I've solo'd  through Caves of Donn and the first couple of legs through Pravus Research at lvl 9 and it was only possible by mindful and constant use of the terrain to my advantage. Combat in this game requires constant thinking, especially when your taking on some tough odds and it rewards you for your efforts. I like the fact that the Bane attack me almost as soon as I see them. I have never been more satisfied with a games combat as I am with TR's.

Playing: varies every day it seems.

You beat me to those words

Have you notice'd that ...sorry to say"..... how shallow those who don't seem to like TR seem to "try" and play it. Almost all negative's show they have a  very limited type of playstyle aswell totaly not understanding the game...just my observation when i spot or read negative comments about the game. And to be clear , people do not have to like TR, but the complaints simply in most cases don't really make sence or show they havn't actualy played the game for REAL.

at least its a different kind of grind (random bane drops) and it has the feel of a battlefield...sometimes i just stuff quests and just go for a walk across a map killing all the Bane i see and dodging artillery shells (they need to step this up a bit) and watching my allies do battle with swarms of Bane

    MMO wish list:

    -Changeable worlds
    -Solid non level based game
-Sharks with lasers attached to their heads

Yeah that's always good... who would've thought the infamous "hunting" would be so fun?
