Howdy, ya'll!
This here's my first post on your glorious forums and I expect to be around a little longer to answer any and all questions you have about Voyage Century Online (VCO).
I was browsing your forums yesterday and it seemed that not many people have heard of this game, nor did the people who know about know much about it. It's a really great game and we need more players!
Please feel free to reply to this post with any questions you have if you haven't tried it yet. I'll tell you right now that the community level is right up there with WoW and runescape. There's hundreds of players on at all times, a HUGE living economy and the ability to set up and create your own shops. You can level on land or level at sea or a mixture of both with an infinite spectrum of possibilities.
If you're into land battling there are about 40 cities to sail to each with it's own type of creatures, quests and challenges.
If you're into the ship sailing thing the amount of ocean to explore is incredible. There are more things to discover at sea than you could possibly imagine. Almost as much as on land.
If you're into both sailing and land battle, then this game's still got something for ya. Using grapple hooks you can board enemy ships and turn a sea battle into a fight to the death. Make sure you've bombarded the ship with cannonballs first as to reduce the amount of sailors you'll have to kill before killing the captain.
There are many cities to travel to, each with it's own economy and "marketplace." The docks at each of the cities tend to become "marketplaces" as that's where most people choose to set up their shops. Weapons, armor, potions, cannons, materials, rewards and treasure maps are available for you wherever you go; generally at cheaper prices then the NPC stores as well since a lot of players craft in bulk.

If you've gone ahead and created an account, you'll find me on the Magellan server. My name is "Jeb." Add me to your friends list and I'll help you with any problems you may be having. The game is roughly translated from chinese so some of the quests are a little tricky, but nothing a 10-year-old can't figure out.
