I'm having a really hard time with MMOs these days (as are many others lol). When looking for an MMO, here are these things I try to find:
-GOOD COMMUNITY = I can't say it enough. An MMO is no fun if there are very few people or if you're stuck in an instanced world (*cough* guild wars).
-Solo play viable = I don't like being forced to group. If I only got 2 hours to play, I don't wanna spend half of that trying to find a group for an instance I won't be able to finish.
-Large world = Finally, I don't want a game that has a small world. I don't care about the grind as long as I got a huge world to grind stuff in.
In my MMO history, I've mainly played SWG, WoW, and Planetside (all for about 2 years each). I've also tried games like Guild Wars, EVE, CoH, Lineage 1 and 2, FFXI, RF Online, and AO and I didn't like any of those. Currently I started playing EQ2 and I love it...except there's some performance issues that render the game too choppy to play at some points. I've done a lot of research and spent hours pouring over reviews and talking to people and I've narrowed it down to 2 games: Vanguard or Tabula Rasa. Which of those 2 games do you think I'd prefer most or which one do you consider to be better? All help on this decision is greatly appreciated. Also if you got any trial/buddy keys for either of those games, I'd love to get a firsthand look at each game before I buy it. Thanks!

Solo content; Both games on equal. VG can be soloed to max level, grouping is a little faster in certain areas but it doesn't force you to group. Fact is that the most entertaining content is in group tho, and even harvesting for crafting is faster doing in groups. In TR it's a little more solo oriented, but as well later instances need to be done in group. Problem is they are not as enjoyable as soloing kinda. To sum up, both have equally entertaining solo content, but VG is a winner in group content by far.
Large world = Well VG has probably the biggest world ever used in that rich graphical environment. Everything is non-instanced. This is where TR differs a lot. The world is much smaller, and each zone of it is instanced. The world in VG is nonlinear (open world) TR has linear (each zone has a couple of exit zones to another zone with loading screen).
REALITY CHECK
God I hate that. You just wanna give them a knuckle sandwich. Ive tried or played every game out and I very rarely discuss another game. If you dont like the game youre playing then sod off and stop wrecking everyone elses enjoyment lol
