    Thanks Avery.  Very interesting indeed.

I have a feeling based on their "survey" we are going to be seeing some changes to AoC over the next couple months.  We'll see.  My predictions are that a class or two may be removed.  Crafting may be scrapped/revised to a system even simpler than WoW's.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Yep, and the last time I saw a survey like that from Funcom about AoC, they consolidated a few classes.  That is why I say expect more consolidation very soon.  To me, they bit off more than they can deliver and are now cutting the fat in a chance to release in March.  I think crafting, as we know it from different games, won't be in AoC.  To me, crafting will be architects, gatherers, gemsetters, alchemists.  I don't think you'll see any weapon or amor smiths in AoC.

Saying that, expect a release date of October - December 2008 at the earliest.

    Sooo pesimistic.

Ever thought that asking which class your not keen on, means that can improve that area. I've been in marketing before and that kind of feedback lets you exactly know where you stand. The thought never crossed my mind about any class being scrapped, thats a bit too far thinking.

As for crafting, its end of month next week, maybe in the new clan of conan newsletter there will be an update? if not end of December, as they say something like that would be a newsletter type thing.

Considering that there are seperate PvP and PvE stats on weapons and such, I would say Armorsmith and Weaponsmith will be the most popular. PvP weapons aren't laying on the ground and your PvE weapon type wont be as good.

Saying that, expect a release end of March 2008 :)

Especially with the few thousand that just got into beta, joining those already there.

I may not have been in market, but I have been on the AoC forums for over a year and following AoC for a lot longer than that.  The last time I filled out an AoC survey, the next month they consolidated classes.  I have their history to fall back on.

Don't you find it kinda strange that none of our "post cards from beta" has mentioned anything from crafting?  I mean seriously, if crafting is in game and playing such an important part of the game, you'd think someone would have mentioned something about crafting by now.  We have not heard a single word.  Also, last fall with all the big conventions where people got to play the game, no one mentioned anything about crafting.  We are FOUR months from release and crafting hasn't even seen the light of day with the fans.

The last 24 months I've seen crafting the source for gear to 2nd best because now mob drops have jewel slots on them for crafters.  Sure, if you are on a PvP server you'll mean something as a crafter for PvP gear but if you play on a PvE server, raid drops will be the norm.  Welcome back to WoW.  That is a shame.

we shall see folks, making it more like WOW, or rushing things means bad game.

But hey the positive sight is that if gear will be the biggest factor of AOC witch they said won't happen but we will see or allot of dumbed down things then you can say.

    I will play the game

I will not play the game.

I would not play AOC if that would happen. I am not stupid to play another cookie cutter game. I am sick of those mmo's.

    But we don't know anything

And btw: Didn't famine or pharamond made the survey?
