Auran are about to push out a major content update including 2 new match types with their own maps and some new abilities.
A lot of these changes have arrived after listening to their playerbase's needs and criticisms.

Read about all the new changes more directly HERE.
Quote taken from the above link;

AGE OF THE CHOSEN - COMING SOON

Brand New Carnage Gametype
Carnage is team based Player vs Player vs Bots. Each player team consists of four players working together to slaughter the bots. Each bot killed will drop a Blood Token, which can be returned to the team base. Victory goes to the team who collect the most Tokens.

Carnage will be released with three maps, designed specifically for Carnage.

New 1v1 Elimination
Prove that you are the best individual warrior! You'll need to master the four new 1v1 Elimination maps and carefully consider which combination of abilities will offer the right mix of survivability and damage potential.

Will it be you who dominates the new 1v1?

Improved Tutorial
We've streamlined the tutorial and we now give players more information that will prepare them for the battles that lie ahead. New players can choose between Bloodbath Training Grounds, 1v1 Elimination or the new Carnage warzones and must complete 5 matches before being allowed into the main Sanctarum.

Repeatable Practice Area
Players can now return to the tutorial area at any time and practice their skills aginst a wide range of bots such as Healers, Wardens and Destroyers.

NPC Amalgamations
In the Age of the Chosen it will be much easier to find the NPC you need to earn and learn your abilities.

The number of Trial Guide and Ability Mentor NPCs will be reduced significantly: you will now be able to learn all abilities for a single Archetype from just two NPCs.

Equipment System Changes
The power and rarity of all equipment obtained in the Age of the Chosen will be more closely associated with the tier of the item.

Rare items will be of a higher tier, and carry significant advantages over lower tier items. Overall the power of enchantments on items has been reduced.

Combat Mechanics
All combatants will be given a little more time to think between attacks, with the global cooldown increasing to 1.3 seconds. Base health will be increased (from 2500 to 3000) and the bonus health obtained from equipment will also be increased significantly.

Beware of the new Combat Fatigue debuff, however: the longer you are in combat and taking damage, the less effective healing will become.

Improved Interface
Numerous changes to the GUI will improve your experience in the world of Fury.

The Artificer and Auctioneer interfaces have been improved.

Abilities you currently have equipped will be marked in your ability list.

In warzones we will be adding the option to save the entire combat log chat window contents after a match.

The ladder value of all matches will be displayed at the end of each match.

Four New Abilities
Four new abilities have been discovered. Every character will gain access to these free-to-equip abilities!

Sprint: Temporarily increases the user's movement speed. This ability is self only.

Liberate: Using this ability will break any disruption effects placed on the user. This ability also renders the user immune to stun, root, pacify, terror, mesmerize, knockback and teleport effects. This ability is self only.

Elemental Purge: Strips the user of all their charges. A useful counter to charge manipulation. This ability is self only.

Elemental Immunity: Temporarily renders the user immune to charge manipulation effects. Charges can still be generated and consumed through normal ability use. This ability is self only.

Bugs & Polish
The pile of squashed bugs littering the corner of our office is huge! A vast number of bugs have been fixed, and the general polish improvements are numerous.

GG Auran and keep up the good work!

That 1v1 Elimination is looking very sexy, and to be honest, is sorely needed.

I'll be keeping an eye on Fury as it grows.

Some interesting changes. Would be nice if they lowered the grind on getting your skills unlocked.

Kinda iffy about making rare gear more powerfull as it favors those that play 24/7, especially given the less than stellar matchmaking system.

They are not making rare gear more powerful but making it so that rare powerful procs on gear only appear on high tier gear.

From what I understand it this means you wont be able to wear high tier powerful gear and have lots of tier 10 abilities at the same time. You'll have to choose between high tier gear and fewer abilites or high tier abilities and low tier gear.

Having some brand new game types sounds good but in all honesty Fury is having enough problems in obvious population decreases. The current population cant even support the vortex match on a regular basis. With another 8 ppl required to run a carnage match, i cant see this being used as much after players get over the "new game" appeal.

Dont get me wrong, they sound like some cool new games and i especially like the sound of the 1v1 elim, but i think this is where most of the action will be. Which unless the population goes against its current trend will just pull players from the already existing games. Players are just going to que up for what they can get into with a less wait period imo, and to only have to wait for 1 other person well... could be wrong... but we'll see.

I guess this will come down to whether the new tutorial, practice area and interface changes, will help out new players and keep some of them in the game, as to whether it will see matches being played in all of the available arenas.

The HP bonuses are already being argued as to whether they will be a good thing or not on the official Fury forums. However i think most ppl that consider themselves "hardcore" PvP'ers will know there is no point having HP if you cant keep it, and everyone will have the same base HP anyways. So i think it will just make for longer battles which should be the basis of whether it is a good thing or not, and IMHO i think a long battle is better than a shorter one, even if it is 1 sided...

Population and performance were the main reasons why i left the game after about 2 months of playing and to a lesser point some imbalance issues. I think some of the new abilities will help out in some cases, mainly against oracles and crowd control which are considered "over powered", but there are still a majority of skills that just arent being used and require a buff in a later patch to have any reason for anyone to want to use them.

As for performance and bugs, well there seems to be only a handfull of players that claim they can run Fury without complications. Which then look silly as Auran openly disscuss known issues and bringing out patches to fix them, and on a couple of occasions had to make more attempts to fix the same issues.

Performance has been a big issue for the majority of players that have attempted to play the game and left because of its "lack of". Some issues are still present for a lot of ppl who are trying out the game or returning to see if things have improved, and again it seems that the same handful of ppl have "no complications". A lot of patches had made the performance of the game even worse for many that i had associated with, and has improved little for a lot of players.

While writing this, the ladder numbers are at 1005 players (subject to change of course). That is 1005 ppl that have played a battle in the last week, which i might add has included a patch. Pretty poor numbers for any game imo, even if it doubles in the next few days. Just check out the statstics and ladders on unleashthefury.com where you might also notice that a large number of these players have not played many matches at all. As you get towards the end some players have logged in for 1 match lol.

I jumped on last night Prime Time in Aus to find 1 Elim and 2 BB and 3 training BB matches running . Thats a total of 36 players that were currently playing in matches (8ppl required for Elim, 8 for BB and 4 for training BB). Today at primetime US there were 5 Elims, 2 BB's and 4 training BB's. I didnt stick around to see what the best score was over a long period of time, i was in game to disband a clan :( and that is what i saw when i checked the numbers.

AND THEY ARE ADDING 2 NEW GAME TYPES LOL

Despite ppl saying the matchmaking system will get better as the population increases, whilst true, goes against the current trend of the games population levels, and unless the new content changes things drastically I can only see things getting worse for Fury.

I have defended this game in the past- during BETA- and stayed with it under the impression that it HAS potential. I started a clan upon release with a friend i met in BETA and we created this with an approach to have fun and help out new players. We lost a lot of players due to the underlining issues in the game. Some simply because they were getting "pwned" as some would say, but most due to the overall poor performance of the game and lack of population and interest.

Whilst now I believe Fury HAD potential I think it has missed its oportunity to shine and have tried to be as informative as i can so that anyone interested in this game doesnt have to sift through all the crap that has been posted about its current state and how it got there.

I have a high end game machine and have no problems running new mmo's and other new games, even games still in BETA. Fair enough if you like the game as i once did, but we need to be realistic.

I hope the upcomming content makes a difference to the game, but that remains to be seen.

Best of luck to everyone still enjoying the game.

    Cheers,

    Rexx

Well population has increased considerably with the new patch albeit theres probably quite a lot of Chosen (free2play status) running around.

The recent news is anyone upgrading to Hero (game bought status) by the end of  the year will become Immortal (subsciption status) for life. This should mean that most of those Chosen will become regulars.

This can only be a good thing.

It does make a change from 4vs4 Elim though the maps need some adjusting.
