Looking for social game

jaestellejaestelle Member Posts: 17

I miss the days of just grouping up and beating on mobs.  Or sitting in a camp and pulling mobs for awhile.  Games nowadays are centered around solo questing.  If there are group quests a group usually just comes together for 10 minutes to do it then disbands.  I like getting to know people while playing and actually interacting with people.

I'm bored of WoW.  I debated EQ2, but I hear that's pretty much solo leveling to the cap then raiding again. I'm playing LOTRO now.  It's fun, but I like having two games active to bounce between.

Aside from what's mentioned above, I want a game that has decent graphics by today's standards and a healthy, mature playerbase.

If anyone knows of this game please let me know.  I don't think these type of games exist anymore, but it's worth a shot asking.

:)

    then i strongly suggest vanguard

its not too easy, so inmature, n00bs and 12 y/o kiddos just dont play

it has prolly the best gfx you can get at the moment

or... you can wait a while and play project entropia, which will have the cryengine2, the same engine as crysis (which is the best by far). or you can enter now to learn to play, throw in a few extra bucks and wait for the massive update

    hope i helped you

I have a suggestion for ya: Eve Online!

In my view, Eve has the most social playerbase out there. There are virtually no kids around, since the game has a very steep learning curve - and those kids that do play Eve are generally both mature and intelligent. Of course you will meet the occasional fool, but Eve doesnt have too many of them.

The thing is, of course, that Eve is a very unique game in all its features. The controls - click to move - seem outdated, but only untill you get used to it.

You have to accept that it is a game in space. No orcs, trolls or dark lords with big axes and magic.

Eve has only ONE server. One big, huge, humongously vast server! You will NEVER see all the solar systems, thats how big it is. At peak times it comes close to 40,000 people online. -And with developers that actually care about the gamers, the playerbase grows each day!

In Eve you can do anything. You can PvP, you can chose not to pvp, you can construct, produce, research, build, create, run corporations, make huge space stations with vast defenses... literally anything. The game has decay, things dissappear, which means that player crafting is necessary to make the world go around. Everything is player crafted! If nobody in the world makes X component, well there will then be no X components around! This is fantastic, since the world then is controlled by supply and demand! Buy a big freighter and haul goods from one end of the galaxy to the other and make a fortune, bacause you can buy them cheap at a place where they are in surplus, and sell them at a place where they are much needed - but beware of the pirates! The might want you to pay "taxes" to let you go - or they might just blow you up and podkill you if you dont hand over your goods! -Or you can ally yourself with people in big battleships and let them escort you for a small percentage of the winnings!

The beauty about Eve is the fact that the world is entirely player controlled. Instead of grinding to max level and start raiding for gear or the like, you situate yourself in a vast world with no endgame! -Or endgame from day 1!  People complain that they will never catch up with someone who has played for 3 years, since he has so many skillpoints - Eve is not about skillpoints! In 2 months you can make a difference - outsmart that pompous veteran player with only your brains! Eve is not about gaining a level! Eve is about your actions! Just like everyday life! Eve revolves around the content that players make for themselves - not around content created by some developer - content that you HAVE to follow: kill this mob, the that mob, then that mob etc etc etc.. you are your own master - and everybody's master if you want and try hard enough!

By the way - 5th december Eve is being patched and is being completely overhauled graphics wise! Everything in the world is getting a whole new and better look!

Another thing is that people in the past have complained that they can't get out of their spaceship - that their avatar, in reality, IS a spaceship! The developers are working on this, and are planning to launch an expansion, in the near future, where the avatars will become real people, capable of getting out of their ships, walking in the space stations and interacting in a whole new way from before! Imagine bars in the space stations - drunken brawls, playing chess in a bar etc! This is in development!

One advice though.. The game gives you the opportunity to be free and do what you want, but its the people you play with that shape your experience.. So get into a nice corporation asap, thats when the fun will really start :-)

Wanna be free?? I think you do! Let's meet in Eve!

    (hope this helped a bit)
