Customisable avatars/characters?

Hey all.

Sorry for such a newbie question.

The text based game I have been taking part in has recently closed down, due to lack of interest.

As such, I'm looking for something new.

I'm having difficulty, however, finding a game which, upon creating my character, allows for his body type.

I'm sure you know the type - About 6 foot tall with a beer gut almost big enough to have his own climate?

Think....Meat Loaf, in his 30's.

So, if anyone knows of a fantasy RPG that would allow me to create such a character, I'd be most grateful.

He also has wings, but the wings and tail aren't important.

    Are you looking more for a role-playing type? If so, what type of scenario?

    There are a lot of fantasy MMOs, but i'm assuming you're looking for less combat based, and more role-playing based.

    Because I know if you're looking for weird character customization, where you can create almost anything, I know Ryzom has a great customization system, and has a huge roleplaying community. The bulk of the game is story driven, and players are a huge role in how the game works out.

    I know a lot more with great customization but they're mostly combat/raid based like Everquest 2 or things along those lines.

    Still, if you care to elaborate, I can probably help point you in the right direction.

    Hi.  :)

    Well, if it didn't already come across, I'm new to this MMO thing.

    But something akin to how I imagine World of Warcraft would be, would be nice.

    A kind of, you go through it learning skills, training, occasionally doing quests, or fights, and socialising.

    If that makes any sense what soever.

    Or is even possible.

    I liked the idea of Runescape, actually.

    My only problem was the customisation.

    Perfect World has the best character customization I've seen.  It's a Chinese MMO but they got a free English open beta going on right now.  You might not get it EXACTLY the way you want it but it's pretty damn good.

    And it's not a MMO but there's always Second Life.

    i think you can make umm.. larger boned characters in AO, which is free. or i remember some pretty round bellies in SWG as well.
