It first started when I bought Final Fantasy XI. My sound skipped a lot and it was very annoying. (At least, that's what I think it was doing.) It did this so much that I just ended up quitting. Then, a few months later, I came back to it and the music didn't skip, but the sound effects did. I turned them off. However, now it's doing it again with World of Warcraft. It also did this with Pharaoh, the Sierra game that I installed a few months ago.
Any assistance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I would say, make sure your sound card is not sharing an IRQ, especially not with your video card.
If you have a sound card plugged into a PCI slot, make sure it is at least one slot away from the slot the video card is in, even one slot away from the AGP slot if your video card is in an AGP slot.
