MMO! Yay! Linux! Ah, crap...

Alright, here's the story. I'm a linux gamer. Yes, we do exist. I need a new MMO to kill some time until I can actually figure out HOW to run the games I already play.

That's all fine and good. I'm also poor! College is hard enough to pay for, so I need FREE games.

So... what's the verdict, guys? What are my free linux MMOing options?

I am on a mac bok pro 10.4.10 and hating the hell out of it. Strangely, without a working dvd drive screwed up by Apple themselves, I am paralized...SL works fine though, and helps to fill the void. Can't wait to get back to run ryzom silan to the roots....

    best...

Played (more than a month): SWG, Second Life, Tabula Rasa, Lineage 2, Everquest 2, EvE, MxO, Ryzom.

Tried: WoW, Shadowbane, Anarchy Online, Everquest, WWII Online, Planetside

    Beta: Lotro, Tabula Rasa, WAR.

Alright, I've tried Planeshift (www.planeshift.it) and daimonin (www.daimonin.net).

Planeshift was slow after a while, and I didn't really get into it too far. Daimonin was alright, too, but I felt like I was playing Baldur's Gate on a windows 3.1 machine.

I guess what it comes down to, is I am looking for a game I can play on linux, either natively or through wine (cedega costs money, if I remember correctly...) that plays similarly to Conquer Online 2.0 (www.conqueronline.com).

I just wanna kill stuff and loot em, so any suggestions are welcome. Thanks for helping, in advance. While I wait for you guys, I'll probably keep looking on my own, and trying stuff out.

Once you get passed the graphics it really has some depth to it.

Well, Eve-Online is not at all free..but it does have an officially supported linux-client (it has a few bugs though, it was released a few weeks ago)..

(runs fine on gentoo & ubuntu 7.10)
