I have been watching some in game video's and screenshots of Warhammer and to be honest it looks almost exactly like daoc. Are they using the same game engine as daoc? From what I see the game looks like it has old generation graphics. Graphics are not the only thing I look for in a game, but they are a bonus. I sure hope the finished product looks alot better than what I have been seeing or this game could be in trouble.

There's another thread about how it looks just like WoW. There are flamers and heated arguing and everything. This is great!

AAH! A troll fire! Quick, pour some Kool-Aid on it!!!
From my research on WAR, it will be taking a lot of the RvR aspects that worked so well in DAOC. However, that is where the similarities end. WAR is an entirely new game. As for Old generation graphics, and looking similar to DAOC, I have not found this to be the case at all.
Torrential
Torrential: DAOC (Pendragon)
Awned: World of Warcraft (Lothar)
Torren: Warhammer Online (Praag)
the gameplay videos i have watched makes it look exactly like wow, at least the UI and combat system. The graphics look like wow also. i would say it looks more like wow in terms of impressions
Which videos are you watching that make this game look like DAOC to you? Also keep in mind the difference between beta footage and footage that shows the game with all graphical assests in action.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
WAR is basically DAOC2 .It will have the same RVR, but they are adding a lot of new stuff too.
Exactly what I'm looking for, DAOC2. After such a disappointing year of MMORPG releases in 2007 a DAOC2 would be quite welcome IMO.
MMORPG Maker
I don't see any graphical resemblance between the 2 games.
MMORPG
What are you on about? It looks exactly like UO...

It takes a real man to learn the truth... it takes the truth to learn a real man.
WAR takes all it's designwork from the Warhammer graphical artwork found in anything done by Games workshop, if didn't WAR wouldn't be Warhammer Online, as GW would have sacrificed EA Mythic to a chaos god, gutted them, huge their heads on polls, AND THEN pulled the IP licence.. (no really)
Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!
They are using a more advanced version of the DAoC graphics engine.

Desktop - AMD 8450 Tri Core, 3 gigs of DDR2 800 RAM, ATI HD 3200 Graphics, Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit
Laptop (Dell Latitude E6400) - Intel P8400, 2 GIGs of RAM, Intel X4500, Windows XP Professional
we've already been through this, but I'm sure once the game releases and gains popularity we're going to see a flood of "WAR looks like gameX!!!" topics
I think it looks like EvE.
DAoC was (is?) a great game. They could do a lot worse than imitating DAoC.
Which videos are you watching that make this game look like DAOC to you? Also keep in mind the difference between beta footage and footage that shows the game with all graphical assests in action.
I suppose I should have said it like this the game engine looks alot like daoc. The color schemes and Land details make me think of what I saw in Daoc. I am sure the game looks way better in game than screenshots and believe me I sure hope so I am currently looking for a game to get me away from wow's Gearfest. I tried swg again and hated it again even after the hoopla of players saying its better and found the same ole NGE. Warhammer is my next choice outside wow and I really am hoping for a better game.

This is more the answer I was looking for to me it has alot of resembelance to Daoc to me that is. Not that this is a bad thing im just hoping it is next gen graphics and not Old gen.
From what I've seen WAR really is a copy of Runescape, I mean...first of all it's third person, 3D, persistent world and you kill creatures for experience, sounds like a straight up rip off if you ask me.
I thought that I would use this thread to bring the world an exciting new game, a drinking game that is. Grab a big bottle of what ever it is you like drink ( Soda or Kool-aid will work for the kiddies) now sit at your comp spying on the threads on this site and every time a post is made about how war looks like game-X take a shot... two shots for the term WoW clone.
The liver failure that would ensue hardly makes this a drinking game worth playing. Plus it seems like a rip off of the WoW drinking game.
I mean come on, what looks better, this:

Look like DAOC? Not really it looks like WoW and plays like WoW/DAOC hybrid. In any case if you like WoW then you'll like WAR, just dont expect anything new...other than the public quests.
Actally if you like WoW for it's 'zomg i have l33t epix' and 'uber sized raiding groups', you may not like WAR.
Mythic looked at this and went 'NAAHH!!' from the looks of resent info.. It's more like ''ve got a stumpiez 'ead on zee big boss stick' (tranlation from Orky: Dwarfen head on a bosspole), yea it will have cool gear but it wont be in the form of uber 1-hit bashy stick from 17 hours of raiding, it'll be very much lighter on the 'raiding' side due to as you stated public quests, which don't 'require' grouping nor a 'uber raid guild' to actally be part of..
Yea it's hard to ignore WoW did refine and streamline a few old ideas but what WAR does (on paper) is refine those ideas further and make it less about being 'hardcore' and more about just having fun, we've got to admit at some point that there isn't much more you can do with MMOs when it comes down to basic ideas, it's just how you present them is the way forward, which as it stands so far WAR does that quite well..

I agree with this post nice response.
