To buy or not to buy

I have a problem.

I put money away to build a highend PC for AOC (it better be good). Mine is 8 years old and updated the card in 2003. So yeah, it's old but still plays everything except CoX and WWIIOnline.

Since the release has been pushed back, I've been doubling my truck payments, which is the last of my debts.

I really want something new and shiney. You know that feeling I'm talking about...... I also want to checkout EVEs new graphics.

On the other hand, I can put that money down towards my loan and have it paid off in a few more months like around (you guessed it) May (AOC release date), with no rig funds. But to add to this, newer parts may come out and my rig will probably end up costing me more than if I were to buy it right now.

What would you guys do?

Well, i dont know if its just me, but the price of a decent PC  (if your building) has gone down. You could get a comp with an 8800GT, decent dual core (possible quad core like AMD phenom) 2gig of decent RAM for about $700-$800. It will play mostly anything right now. You could go cheaper in many spots if you wanted. You might get away with waiting longer, prices will drop even more probably. I wish i waited to build mine until now.  Well, thats my 2 cents. just an opinion

My advice is to put the money where it matters more - Let the game come out, workout the enevitable launch bugs while you save up for a new pc with newer parts and better prices than currently available.  Just what I would do.  Practice some self restraint and feel great about it later.

Why do I write, create, fantasize, dream and daydream about other worlds? Because I hate what humanity does with this one.

BOYCOTTING EA / ORIGIN going forward.

    i second this.

around the vanguard launch there were tons of people building new rigs for it, and even those could barely run a game as poorly optimized as it was.

hang onto your cash for a few months yet, prices will only be coming down on todays hardware.

Agreed, when the time is right to buy. Save money buying everything online piece by piece (I use newegg.com personally), you can get package deals on a lot of things, and they always have sales, and are good with returns.

I recommend EVGA video cards, because the company is simply amazing.
