Keep some old in the New

Hello all, I have tried to stay away from the EQ2 forums becuase I knew once I did, I would be that much more dying for the game.

I am an Original EQ fan. Played up until the last expansion. Seen some good and bad with the game, but Love EQ as any fan could. No other MMO could hold me for more then a month of play time, except for EQ ofcouse (that held me for like 5 years on and off). So as you can predict, I am very excited for EQ2. Best thing I can do for myself is not expect stuff, but rather accept what it is.

I know that there is one thing I cant stop hoping for though. Its that the game starts much like the first one did. Before the later expansions, it took you time to get from point A to point B. include the boat trip and it took even longer. I know that you older players can appreciate that part of the game becuase it really gave you a sence of traveling in the game. Somethimes it seemed long but it also taught you each zone and your way around them. I think it slowed down the mega killing and leveling which made the game that much more of an effort. So I hope it is the same in EQ2, atleast untill its on its later expansions.

What EQ things would you all like to see in EQ2? Plese speak freely as I like to remember the "Good Old Days". image

I'd like the interesting enviroments to stay in EQ2 as they were in EQ1. Going through ice caves, across volcanoes, stuff that really makes you stare in "awe".

SOE said that they don't want to give much of their enviroments away, so for they are only showing Qeynos, Freeport, Commonlands, Blackburrow and a bit of Nektulos forest.

They also said that the most spectacular enviroments will be later on in the game, and i really hope it is.

I'm hoping that something like the PoK will never be added to the game....ever!  It took all the fun out of traveling.  Basically made ports useless.  I really miss the good old days when it took you a day to get from the faydark to stonebrunt, that run was always fun.

to bad they are not keeping the Bazaar from EQ live.
They want people to interact more in EQ II.
Like we used to in the commondlands tunnel..
I can't find out what i think about them leaving out the bazaar

Response to the Bazaar on the above post...

I actually like the old EC auctioning system we used to have in place.  It was great to sit there auctioning my wares untill I could find a group.

    Pro's

well it gave you something to do while LFG. Most certainly allowed to you see other people and what items they had, which was great for viewing things you may want to get. It did allow you to meet up with other people and meet new ones. The fact that it was in EC (low level zone) allowed all people to join in, and also they newer players could see just what was ahead for their futures. Ability to ask higher levels questions, and for buffs. Usually would have porting classes at the EC tunnel which gave players a chance to make money porting people. Slowed down game play enough to allow players to enjoy the game and its people (might be a con side for some).

    Con's

The location was not near a bank, so if you could not gate to a bank you had a long wrong with out buffs to aid you. If you started out in a town on the other side of Norath, like Qeynos, you had a long haul to get to EC. If you computer was lower end you ran into lag due to the amount of people in the zone. You were not able to search through items fast like you can in the bazaar, often allowing you come across items you didnt know. Often auctions were abbriviated to were newer players had now clue what was being sold., ( although adding the link ability to the text was very nice). Having players of high level sitting around in a low level zone caused them to be begged by "Newbies". High level players taking over lower level camps for one reason or another.

There are just a ton of reasons you could place under either Pro or Con. I too am on the fence on this one. I liked the old way becuase it really did get me more into the game. I had to work which was part of the game and it did slow it down to where I wasent a max level character in a week or so. Then again it at times was annoyig when you couldnt sell anything becuase of the time you were on and such. Ill take whichever they place in the game and will just accept it.
