This is foremost on my mind, as to what will we be wearing?
I havent really heard any mention about gear and how we will get good gear. Lets talk WoW for a moment!!!
Grays: CRAP
Greens: Average
Blues: Good Gear
Purple: Top of the Line
Orange: Best of the Best (I have hand of rag mauahhahaha)
What is the system for recieveing purples or blues...I Imagine that tier 1-3 will be grays to blues but tier 4 is epic or blues...?
Will it be like the WoW Arena and the better RvRr you are you can purchase gear with contribution points???
How bout Quest gear? In WoW We got the BEST gear from 40 man raiding then 20 man....so Will there be raiding instances in WAR or some other method?
Any Ideas??

Hmm...hadn't really thought about it that much. I guess I am expecting a gear system more like DAOC's and less like WOW's.
In DAOC gear has a level to it, and a quality. You can't use gear thats too far above your level, it will actually "con" purple (which means you really can't wear it w/o losing all benefits and suffering huge durability losses) to red (which you can wear and get the benefits, but it will wear out quickly) to Orange (still above your level, but won't wear out so quickly), to yellow (appropriate for your level) to blue (a bit low for you) to green (really low, get rid of it) to gray (totally useless to your level)
Gears efficiency was based on its quality first.... dropped loot generally had a 85-90% quality level (in the old days) while better drops might go all the way up to 94 or 95%. To get gear in the 96-100% level you had to buy player crafted or find an epic drop (very rare) and the 100% crafted gear was very expensive (and hard to craft)
Durability played a factor, let your gear waar down too much an it stopped being as effective, and gear could be repaired to bring it back to full effectiveness.
I might not have quite got all the details right, my memory's not what it used to be..but this is the basic system... and I hope WAR follows a similar vein.

Hanfd of Rag is pretty worthless now. But I'm sure it was great before Burning Crusade.
I too would imagine things would work similar to DAoC. You can equip uber awesome weapon of doom at level 1. But you won't get it's effectiveness until level 40. Not only that, you'll end up breaking it with a few swings because you aren't competent enough to wield such a powerful item. If there is one thing that I can bet on, the crafting aspect of the game will be very important. Most of the good items(apart from your rare epic) will be player crafted. There were also enchanters.. and I believe jewelcrafters as well.. which all give extra bonuses.. tint the color and make it more effective.
As far as how it will really work? No one knows yet.
To the OP:
Although your question is a valid one, you may want to research the game mechanics prior to assuming that it will be similar to WoW. From what I know (somebody please correct me if I'm wrong here) the emphasis on gear will be much less of an issue in WAR than it was/is in WoW. The Devs have stated that skill and tactic will play a much larger part in the game then the gear will. Hopefully this will eliminate the GEAR = PWNT perspective and shift it over to SKILL + CHARACTER KNOWLEDGE = PWNT. I am in no way saying that gear will have no effect on the outcome of a battle, but that if you have the know how you can still defeat a player with "UBER GEARZ".
I don't know exactly how this is going to work but it seems this is what they are aiming for. As far as the Grey/Green/Blue/Purple/Orange goes...no information has been release yet, but you can get a good look a the tier 1,2,3,4 gear on the official WAR website.

Lets grow up now and not go strait for the negitive!
I was kidding bout Hand of Rag...I do have it and I was in one of the best WoW Guilds on Burning Blade at one time after TBC.....chill. Dont be so quick to put down.
Also, I diidnt assume it be liek WoW. Its really the only MMO other then SWG I have played so I was giving a example and asking for feedback.

Important NOTE! Repetition!
Both of your "Important TOPIC!" threads have been covered extensively long before you "discovered" Warhammer: Age of Reckoning.
I would also suggest:
1) research game info, podcasts, videos, etc.
2) leave all comparisons to WoW at the door.
Oh, also another important note:
Not everyone believes that WoW is god's gift to MMORPGs.

I, too, expect a system similar to DAOC. Quality (which is similar to the WoW color system), Durability (how long it will last) I do expect that equipment will NOT last forever like in WoW.

i love how all the WAR fanbois are very defensive about WAR vs WoW lol
WarHammer will prob destroy WoW but for the moment I cant play it so I must compare it to something we can all relate too.
I have seen the podcast and no where do they talk about gear. So many little people trying to be cruel over the internet. And Id think we can all agree I can name my post whatever I want
Its your choice to click on them and respond. THANK YOU AGAIN
It's not fair to say it, but it's fair to have that as your opinion. McDonald's restaurant is very popular, but there's lots of other restaurants I'd prefer.

I would say WoW was gods gift to the masses via its accessibility. They took RPG aspects, threw in alot of simple mechanics and controls to make it feel similar to a console game, then batched it together with the MMO dynamic. This accessibility gave way to many people who had no prior mmo experience so they have no basis to objectively make comparisons. Which is why some people would call it the greatest game of all time. It all boils down to what you are describing as "greatest". If by numbers of people who subscribed and played, yes you could call it the "greatest". If you are calling it the "greatest" at bringing in the main stream gamer via its accessibility, well then you would be hard to argue against. Everything else though could be considered subjective.
WoW is a big beast to tackle. WAR destroying WoW is hardly likely, but it might contend with it. I really don't care either way because I'll play WAR for my own reasons, not because it is popular to anyone else.
As for naming your post - you would get more respect if you didn't act like your post was 1) Actually important especially given that both of them have been discussed repeatedly 2) Researched at least a little bit since if you had you would have seen that the topics had been discussed many times on these boards.
Thanks for the "Fanboi" label and all (very nice of you) but I was merely trying to point out the differences between the two games as far as I can see them. And FYI I'm an avid WoW player and by doing a bit of research on their official websites it's easy to see the similarities as well as the differences.
I will try and summarize some generic questions you have about armor and gear with various dev responses. Some of this info may be outdated but for the most part it should be accurate.
-----------------------------
Q) We've heard a couple times about armor sets, which, I assume, are specific bits of armor that give special bonuses when worn together (as in other games). What kind of bonuses will they have, and will the bonuses be so powerful that it would be foolish to wear anything that wasn't a set?
A) Each career in the game will have somewhere in the neighborhood of 20+ armor sets available to them, each offering a different set of bonuses. However, we're looking to avoid the problem players face in other games where if you play X class, you HAVE to use Y template to be considered effective. We're looking to give our players a WIDE range of gear to choose from while remaining equally effective on the battlefield.
-------------------------------
Armor sets can be obtained from many different methods, PvE, RvR, Bounty Hunter, to Capitol City Raids. The idea behind the different methods was to spread out achievements for different play styles, giving achievements for as many possible play styles as possible.
------------------------------
Q: Will the look of the armor one wears be determined by the character’s tier? Or by the actual armor that one has equipped?
A: From Designer Steve: "The actual armor that will be available to you will have Tier and career requirements, and will have very distinctive looks. In addition, we are looking at some other fun visual goodies to make your character more distinct, but we're going to keep that under the hat for now.
There is a trophy system and armor dyes.

It has so many subscribers for the simple fact that it is not a system recsourse game, meaning the masses of computer illiterate people that dont really know anything except ya need a 3d card to play wow nowq have acess to an mmo.
