After 3 years hiatus.....

I started playing daoc again after selling my toons 4 years ago and playing various other games however i thought iud go back and play the trial for 14 days and i have to say what a blast im having. I have made about 5 characters including the new catacombs ones which werent out befor ei left and playing them in the battlegrounds is great. 

To anyone thinking of trying or going back seriously try it its worth it. Ive now resubbed. 

PS you can play the catacombs expansion wiht the new classes whilst on your trial.

I've been considering coming back to the game.  I have a 50 Heretic on one of the classic servers.  Probably one of the best priest classes I have played in any game so far.

I only played DAOC for a short time (I went back to EQ, dont hate me) but after all the games i have played DAOC is still the one i liked best (after EQ that is).

So can you actually go to the game now as a newbie and have a good time? Outdated graphics dont really bother me and i hear they redid DAOC a bit. I tried to go back to EQ but that didnt work at all, so much had changed. If DAOC is remotely newbie friendly (i.e. i might actually see one or two besides myself) i may be interested in giving it a go. All the newer games are a huge disappointment to me.

Perhaps i will give the free trial a go.

How is pvp and small group pvp these days? any fun? Are there any new guilds running around on lancelot hib?

I reupped the trial account , currently D#3 of 14 days.

I went to a Clasic server, I ddint want to worry about artifacts, ML etc.

Upon entering the only good realm in DAOC (Midgard, obviously) I was shocked to see how many newbie players were in and around Mularn (MIds newbie zone). I was leveling up very quick with just solo and a few quests. There are newbie Darkness fall dungeons which was a shock to me. And in those DF dungeons I was seeing a LOT of low level enemies (Got killed by a friar..that was no fun...and yet, it was ...at the same time).  I havnt had a chance for any groups, because the task dungeons seem to be where the XP is at.

I was very happy, the trial is definitly worth it to just find out. Go for the classic server, was a lot of people there, young and old.

Yes it surprised me how many people there were when i first logge d on. Have to say ive only grouped a few times but if you want to its not really a problem and there are plenty of requests goign on in the chats.

The df style lowbie dungeons were an eye opener for me also. Theres a quest in all 3 regions for a starter amour sets (with stats i might add so not complete crap, good till level 10 ) which involves having to go into the centre to a statue so u meet other lowbies from other realms all doing the samew quest which can be interesting. 8)

im DLing the trial now, how long does it take to do this and ive always liked this game next to EQ also so what server are you all on?

Lamorak is the server IM on. Was over 500 mids on it prime time on a thursday. DAOC is not the mightiest of MMORPGs these days, but honestly, I think with the exodus of a lot of players, Im enjoying it a LOT more.
