Hey all,
Would love to get into this game but its incredbly complex and im not sure what to do when creating a character as i dont want to choose the wrong thing.
I would prefer to be combat based and not a trader/miner
What race should i pick (team?) and what skills should i go?
Also if anyone has a noob friendly corporation that i could join to get some other people to talk/play with while on eve would be cool.
Thanks
*edit* If anyone has x-fire to msg me some help "codenam47"

You can start with any nation, as they are still at peace with each other and travel and trading isn't restricted in any ways (factional warfare hasn't been implemented yet, it keeps getting pulled out from the way of the more important upgrades). Go with what you feel is 'best' for you, what you like most.
Some people would tell you to avoid Amarr, though.
There's loads of info available on the 'New Citizens' section of EVE-Online forums, myeve.eve-online.com/ingameboard.asp and you should at least read the stickies. There's some very good starter guides.
For making your character, remember not to put too many points in Charisma. Like in many Pen&Paper roleplaying games, charisma's a 'dump stat'. It affects training time for trading skills, leadership skills and social skills, all of which aren't that important for a first character. It's most useful for a specialized alt character like a trader. Aside from that, try for a relatively even spread, as all the other attributes are useful.
Getting a set of +1 implants for all stats (except charisma, again) is useful as soon as you get Science skill to level 3, so you can train Cybernetics to 1. It's not really high priority, but at startup getting that one point boost in stats does show biggest advantage. The +1's should cost around ~50k ISK at most, don't buy overpriced crap. :P
Try to get the stat booster learning skills to 1-2, starting with int, mem skills (because they affect the training time for all the learning skills) before training up the skill named 'learning' to 2. It'll go quicker, since the boost from learning is quite minimal at that point yet.
Always remember to check item prices/distances from the market details window when buying something, getting something from the market list window is going to cost you either a lot of time in jumps or a lot of money when you buy someones overpriced goods.
Even in EVE, Google is your friend. Use google and battleclinic to browse loadouts for your ship, and try to get a feel for how to fit it.
There, some random information. Fly safe, pilot.
thanks for the speedy reply
ill check out all those guides
Np, I'll try to send you a PM with a little more personalized help, but the forum software's locking up on me.
Eve University. They have an office in every starter system. They teach actual classes on how to do things in Eve, and they're a top-notch group of people. They also have a public channel you can join ("Eve University") and ask questions, if you'd rather stay in the starter corp for now.
