Inside look on Patch 0.7

FSS has been working super hard over this past month releasing Patch 0.5 and Patch 0.6 which fixed many issues and concerns people were having. FSS  isn't finished yet as HGL players will receive Patch 0.7 very soon with some more fixes and some subscriber goodies. Enjoy !

Memory Usage

  • Fixed a UI-related memory leak
  • Fixed a clothing and armor texture-related memory issue

User Interface

  • New Looking For Group interface that allows players to more easily find each other for creating specific groups.
  • Reorganized the De-modificator, Augmentrex, and Nanoforge interfaces to appear in the left-hand panel area.
  • Added an auto-transparency feature.
  • Scrollbar added to the Guild interface.

    • Fixed a bug that prevented remapping the Shift key.
  • Players should now be able to skip all logo splash-screens with a single click.

Nightmare Difficulty

  • The difficulty of Nightmare has been rebalanced. More overall experience is earned in Nightmare levels, scaling of group experience and difficulty has been improved, and the overall level progression has been adjusted.

Skills

  • Fixed skills getting added to and/or removed from Shift activation when swapping weapons.
  • Investing a skill point into an Aura skill will no longer automatically cause it to activate.

Templar

  • Taunt skills are no longer reduced in effectiveness when grouped

Blademaster

  • Path of Righteousness now applies damage from offhand melee weapons.

Guardian

  • Prayer of Retribution can now be used while poisoned.
  • Prayer of Healing can no longer be used while poisoned.

Cabalists

  • The Summon Ember and Summon Fire Elemental skills should no longer conflict when granted through items.

Evokers

  • Fixed a bug that caused Drain Power to charge an upfront power cost.
  • Tempest’s targeting range has been increased and should now properly lose targets that move out of range.
  • Fixed a bug which prevented Boneshards from having any effect on every other cast.
  • Fixed a bug which prevented Evokers from using any other skills for two seconds after casting Boneshards.

Summoners

  • Hand of Nostrom correctly adds more beams as the skill level increases.
  • Fixed a bug which sometimes caused the Warper’s pet icon to not show up.
  • Master of the Flame’s skill effects now display properly in the skill description tooltip.

Hunters

  • Engineers
    • Engineer Drone behavior improved.
    • Fixed a bug that allowed Repair Drone to be used at no cost.
    • Drones will now level properly along with their owner. Existing Drones that are below your character’s level will automatically be raised to the correct level.
    • Drones now receive correct health bonuses with skill level after re-summoning it.
  • Marksmen
    • Overshield now gives the correct amount of shields.
    • Fixed a bug that prevented Homing Shot from activating properly

Quests

  • Fixed a bug with the Cannon Street Rails Quest Bug.
  • Fixed an end of Act 4 bug where Maxim and Arphaun occupy the same place, allowing you to only talk to one of them, thus preventing you from completing the quest.
  • Fixed a bug where Slaughterbeast occasionally doesn't spawn as expected for the “Regular Customer” quest.

Items

  • Improved the drop rate of various recipes and analyzers.
  • New blueprints have been added for Focus items and Boots.
  • Focus items and Boots can now be made by crafters.
  • Fixed a bug where Auras would turn on and off when swapping weapons that grant aura skills.

Guilds and Groups

  • Fixed a bug where players were not seeing Guild invites.
  • Introduced new Auto-Party logic to provide better matches.

World Movement

  • Fixed additional instances where players were sometimes randomly teleported when other people use portals.
  • Players can now use the /stuck command when in Ghost form.
  • Fixed rare instances where certain areas were impassible.

Miscellaneous

  • Fixed a bug where Founders saw all character names in blue text.
  • Fixed rare issues with being unable to properly apply the Multiplayer patch.
  • Fixed a bug with mods on weapons not being properly equipped when loading a character.
  • Fixed rare cases where the PRD became unusable.
  • Fixed a bug where numerous pets would show up in Stations.

    Nice. Seems to adress a lot of the problems the game had.

  • If all goes through I believe a lot of people who dislike the game currently will be very pleasently surprised.

    I did log onto Test - the game is more stable for me with patch 0.7

    (the game previously used to crash/freeze every 20-40 min)

     

    I'm not going to play Hellgate until this patch goes Live

  • Seen an interview with one of the devs claiming that most people actually think it's a 90-100% game it's just reviewers got stuck up on the bugs - unfairly in his opinion. This is despite the fact that the average user score on Gamespot is 7.4 and critical score of 7.1 (OMG, Gamespot gave Kyne and Lynch 6.0) -claiming this is due to one or two bad scores dragging it down - sample size is currently 267 user reviews so the odd bad score is statistically irrelevent. Actually most reviews did mention the bugs but they also pointed out fundamentally flawed game mechanics and questioned the payment model amongst other issues.

     It seems that the development team behind the title is hitting the ground running with Patch 0.7

    some of the things he’s mentioned regarding the upcoming patches:

    DK_Lond: Sorry for the lack of communication. We would have released 0.7 patch this last week, but we thought there was a problem with the server code which turned out to be nothing. At first we turned off the new allocators, but that didn’t fix it. After what looked like a 5x increase in memory usage per user, it turned out that our stress test code wasn’t simulating any users logging out. It should be out Monday or Tuesday.

    Vaevictus: Thanks for being patient. I’m pretty sure we had planned on having the 1.0 patch out by now.

    0.7 and 1.0 patch are right on top of each other at this point. We have 4 different branches going at the same time and they are all competing for test time and TestCenter usage. We’ve got the single player patch, 0.7 patch, 1.0 patch and the latest branch.

    As far as I know, we should have 0.7 out early next week and have 1.0 on TestCenter about the same time. When 1.0 gets released depends on what issues we find and how long it takes to fix them. If there are no problems for a few days then I imagine it would get released the following week.

    mjollnerus: As Summer says, we’re skipping the version numbers from 0.7 to 1.0 patch, so there won’t be a 0.8 and 0.9 patch. There should only be a week between the 0.7 and 1.0 patch.

    Lots of great subscriber goodies in patch 0.7.  Can't wait to see what they add for us in patch 1.0.
