EU: Codemasters fired Alchemic Dreams

NetspookNetspook Member UncommonPosts: 1,583

Codemasters has fired Alchemic Dreams, the company they originally hired to provide forum/web support and GMs for the European LOTRO and other games.

Officially, it's simply because CM will handle support by themselves from now on. According to rumors it's because the complaints AD got for their services. I am one of those who complained.

Hopefully this means real support instead of the standard cut-and-paste answers, like "ping test", "it's your ISP", "<quote from some players> please advice if that helped". And maybe no more bs GM answers in-game, like "we know about that bug, but CM doesn't allow us to help you".

I quit LOTRO for several reasons. AD was one of them. When LOTRO gets a bit older and has lots of more contents, I *might* return to try again. With AD gone, it's so much easier to actually consider that!

The text behind that link:

As part of Codemasters Online’s continued growth and development we shall over the coming weeks begin reintegrating the current services provided by Alchemic Dream into our new internal support structure. In line with Codemasters Online's on-going commitment to provide the best possible service for players of all of our games, we are pleased to be in a position to build our own internal support services.

Alchemic Dream have provided an invaluable service whilst we established our MMOs and related support services for which we thank them greatly and wish them all the best on their future projects.

As Codemasters Online becomes an established and prominent figure in the world of MMOs it's time to move forward with our overall goals of becoming an all-inclusive service provider ranging from the hosting of the games themselves, right through to all associated support systems.

For our players it’s important to stress that the day–to-day processes will change very little as we are keen to keep the changeover process as smooth as possible for them. Any changes that might be forthcoming (such as changes to e-mail addresses or support contacts), which would involve our customers will be communicated and explained to you in full, as and when appropriate.

You may start to see some new "faces" appearing on the forums and within the game – those are our new team members and will be identified as such. Please join us in welcoming them all on board!

Codemasters Online would like to thank all of our players for their continued support.

Now if they could only fire the idiots running Customer Service on the US version.

Not surprising at all, considering Alchemic Dream were also the ones in charge of billing for Dark and Light. And we all know how that went.

Personally I don't anything about the US guys, but I'll say this:

There, right there is a perfect example of the complete stupidity of Turbine CS. When the Rift came out we actually had one GM basically tell us there was no such thing as the Rift (he had obviously not been informed Book 11 had launched or was even in progress ).

We also had another one tell us that the reason that we died when we killed the Balrog and the NPC died was because she had poisonous gas that she let out, which is against the lore and completely wrong.
