LMAO they killed kashyyk!

in SWG Veteran Refuge

Sooo i resubed to swg not long ago to see how things are, so i logged in on my old commando and decided to try my hand at the ryatt trail quests i left for dead.

As always you have to hyper there (annoying!) but when i got there i was stunned at the view i had....boxes..to be exact every available stationary item like buildings, trees, bridges..even npcs where those default image boxes with the " ? " sign on them, i was speachless and very very lost because now there are no true pathways or npc's just an unending sea of boxes

    It looks like you are missing some graphics files.  Maybe you should verify files with the patcher?

    working as intended as part of an advent calendar.  Look there was a tree before open the box and maybe you ll find it again ! but this time as an added new feature ! LMAO

    SOE may have done that as a way of telling players to open up their Christmas gifts early.  Looks like it's first come, first serve.  Another screw up of additional game content done in a very professional way.  Merry Christmas from SOE !       LOL.

    Are you sure you went to Kashyyk? Looks more like the planet of lost mystery gifts to me.

    Or maybe the planet of lost ideas to fix SWG after the NGE fiasco?

    Either way ... weird ... but how are you enjoying your return?

    I cant remmeber where this happened to me in swg as well, there were all these squares with ? in the center of them, it was bizarre.

    Currently im rather bemused, most of the content is now group orientated but without a LFG chat channel how are you sopposed to find a group? Most would say "find a good guild" but theres another problem, most guilds are pvp orientated with both server slots already used up as a crafter and combat character and all they do is hang around restus. I even went to restus to checkout what the pvp population is like that didnt go to well ..10 characters in restus at peek time and all they did was stand just in the pvp zone and gank anyone that happened to walk in there path (no i wasnt that dum lol) for the most the server i was on (intrepid) was a ghost town even mos eisley cantina the entertainers one stop of xp/buffing was dead.

    But i will say i do like all these quests does take out a lot of the grind and if only the NGE was done differently..lets say by leaving the proffs the way they were and just implementing all the extra content like the quests i'd say the game would still be thriving and giving WoW a run for its money

    Happened to me one other time in pre-cu the old Restus, there was one of those boxes up beside the shuttle port so i checked it out and it said "stop looking at me!"

    I used to have one of those boxes in one of my houses. It was a piece of junk loot that they never fixed and it stayed as one of those boxes. Unfortunately they did eventually fix them, but it was cool to have for awhile.

    I'd love to hear what the NGE defenders have to say and how it's supposed to be uber cool and "working as intended" lol!

    Those were actually the input from the devs, went there, said "Damn, this place is F'd up, let's put a marker in everywhere something should be, and then we'll go back and fix it later.... Ummm... that many, maybe not."

    Or no one has been to Kash to notice.

    Or the place was vandalized by the Riddler (old school, not Jim Carrey).

    Doesn't matter, does anyone think the Dev could actually fix it anyway?

    Unlikely, and who cares.....

    No, no no! Soe keeps doing it wrong. Even the box design is wrong. If they want more iconic, then they have to use THIS design for the question cubes:

    see? mario had it right and it's 8-bit goodness and it STILL looks better than SOE's design lol!

    take it easy man.. dont make a big deal about it.. It's still beta.. they will get it ironed out before release.......

    It's in beta still? man and I kept hearing these crazy rumors about people actually being dumb enough to pay monthly subscription for a half-made... oh wait... lol! Well that pretty much covers my sentiments. I think that this game we really should be playing for free anyway until, as you stated, they iron things out. I mean, it's one thing to let it slide if a server gives you a medium rare stake as opposed to a well cooked stake. But when the server ends up giving you a raw, still frozen piece of stake and then say "eat up! oh and don't say anything to the chef because he's sensitive" a line has to be drawn.

    First off you do not have to hyperspace to get to Kash, simply use the dropdown menu and select it from the travel menu. And you have a graphic glitch, I was on Kash a couple days ago helping a new player in our guild level and did quite a few quests and no one in our group saw what you saw.

    Strange stuff.

    I really LOVE SWG nowdays. It´s awsome. I like it more now then pre-cu and pre-nge. Only thing im missing is Wounds. I hope they will get it back in game.

    Anyway, i have the exact same problem on Kyysh as OP has. Lots of boxes all over the place. Did you download the game  (as i did) from SoE or did you use your CDs?

    Sadly that is the way it has always been with SWG. Im sure when they fix that the fix will break something else.  Its been over 4 years and it just never gets better.

    You're obviously a vet , you're on your 5th post on MMORPG.com, and you're praising the NGE.

    Something just feels fishy about this IMO.
