they will make a  lightstick online game.....with in-depth instructions on how to "turn on teh sword"

arguing with a corporate fanboi is like teaching special education.
even if you teach him something...at the end of the day he's still retarded.

    Hehehe... Let's all bash BioWare!

I am among the most disappointed players about BioWare recent titles, but in all honesty, I do think their MMO will rock.  BioWare made many mistakes, the first been focusing solely on the story, as if we come PLAY a game for a story.  Yeah, a story is always nice, but never why we are there in the first place.  I have seen BioWare drowned since Jade Empire.  This MMO, I think it will be Medieval-Fantasy, it is going to pull them back toward their origin, hopefully.

BioWare has erred and did mistakes, but I have all confidence that for the MMO, they will be back on track, aware that their consumers may tolerate real-time-action-story-driven games, but...we are...enjoying "deep strategic games" which doesn't relly on reflexes, coordinations or whatever silly.

I am wearing pink glasses and until proven otherwise, I will hold to these glasses.

BioWare fanbase consist of peoples who like to "think", take their time, play at their speed.  Real-time has to be tamed, totally, and hopefully, they are getting this point.  If not, well, they will try to please the public in general while substaining fire from old fans. :P

PS: I didn't buy Jade Empire, nor Mass Effect, as despite been a fan, I am not to be taken for granted.  Many companies make weird assumptions that existing fanbases will buy the game anyway...LOL.  I know companies understand only 1 way of speaking, money.  Mass Effect?  I didn't buy it...and I won't.  You are slipping WAY too far for my tastes, supporting such changes would be suicidal for me, I rather give rope to a stranger so he can hang himself with it, than to hang myself.

Its up to us to make sure it gets flushed.

I agree.  LA will want certain performance in capital.  SW as an IP has alot of appeal, but as an MMO it has to be produced in such a way that it will draw to the wide appeal to get that capital they think it deserves.  Which means it will have to be as simple as possible to get people in to play.  As an MMO a "smart" SWG2 would require the reading the original did and LA doesn't want that.

They can't wrap their heads around that most of the fans that built that company are in their 30's and older now.  They don't understand that in order for an MMO to appeal to us it has to be smart and will probably be a niche game.

As fans in the 80's we were kids and bought the toys that built the company.  But the kids today have so many IP's to go to.  In the 80's there was SW, GIJoe, and Transformers(some others yes).  Now these are still around and now so is Myspace, Youtube, Cellphones, and all of the shiny Internet competing for the kids market place.  I don't believe for one moment Lucas is making the money off kids today adjusted for inflation he made back then.  No way.  If they try to focus on making the game to attract kids market, It will be another NGE.

In the long run it will suffer the same problems the NGE has because there are already tons of games with the same mechanics that the kiddies are already playing.  It will be shiny and pretty, but it won't have a sandbox design, and will require as little reading as possible and no intuition.  I loved the way KOTOR played on my Xbox.  But it was still a single player game.  They will make this way again even tough it will be labled an MMO.  After all that's what the kiddies want and maybe, if they are lucky dad will give them his credit card to pay.  At least till he sees the kid spend all that play time on Myspace.
