Hey guys Me and a few people whom I had just met inside Tabula Rasa were playing together in a team using voice chat. All of us were in our mid-twenties and we were talking about how much fun this game has been. The game has built-in voice chat whenever you team up with someone. Anyway, we all came from other games. One guy came from Vanguard, I played AO for 3 years and then played WoW for 6 months... one guy came from SWG and was play City of Heroes until TR came out. None of us are like... braindead fanboys but man... we were talking about how we see people posting like real bad reviews of this game and we just don't get it... lol.... I mean.... the launch of this game was pretty damn smooth. The latest patch adds more endgame content, an expansion is coming in the Q1 of 2008.... the game is just so much fun. We did 2 fast instances last night and the teamwork was great.
Here's the thing... we just don't get why we see these forum posts where people rip on the game so much. Not all forums are like that... but MMORPG has some people that literally reply to 10 posts "warning" people not to play this game (even though it has a 3 day trial). I realize that for every unhappy customer, that unhappy customer will tell 20 people and 1 happy customer will only tell 5 people. (not exactl stats but you get the point).
Aside from that, any problems/bugs are being fixed every 2 weeks. They release a HUGE patch every 2 weeks. Now the game has an "auction house" which was added last week. 1 month after launch, boom.. we got our AH's.
Oh and those who say the game is failing... actually... it's doing very very good... aside from all the reviews out there that are giving this game an 8/10 (see, the trolls will say that reviews are all lies...weird huh?) they just added like 8 new servers. I don't think NCSoft would have bought/assigned all those servers to this game if it wasn't doing very very good. Even on this website... mmorpg... it's got the highest rating.... again... the anti-TR folks will claim that all reviews are false.
Here's a leaked screenshot showing a picture of the added servers:
All in all... to the new people... use common sense... try the game for 3 days... I don't know who these people are who say this is the "worste game ever" and I don't want to sound paranoid but I wonder sometimes... if the MMO companies setup false posts in the forums to try to keep people from playing this game.... I know.. sounds paranoid lol but it's so weird... the game is so much fun... lol are we all playing the same game??? :P

My problem isn't so much with the game than the Community, it's like every WoW kiddie that has gotten banned, decided to skip their Meds for a month then start playing TR, the GM support is non-existent, and when you ask a question the same answer is:" who cares just keep killing shit." I don't consider myself a Anti-TR person, I just think that RG didn't actually start working on the game till early this year, and that the audience he was shooting for passed it by and now he's stuck with mostly CS kids.

Hey I actually do agree on some of what you are saying but a lot has to do with personal experience. Some of your points and some of my reactions:
Immature Community - lol I agree with you 100%, I turned off the general chat channel the very moment I started playing this game... man.. it's so annoying. My first clan was full of kids and I'm not saying all kids are annoying but some of them really are. My new clan has a rule "YOU MUST be 18 years or older to join" and we have a vent server. So, I found my little piece of heaven inside the community... I'm with you on this comment 100% and while it's a pain to deal with the kids, I've found my own little piece of heaven in the games community by joining up with awesome, mature, non-selfish, **adults**. So, yea.. you are correct but I have found a solution... lol kill all the public chat channels and join an adults-only guild. :P I come from Anarchy Online where a TON of kids play because you need no credit card/payment plan to play that game and the rating is like.. kids-safe or something. So, to me.. it's a step up from where I came from.
Getting ahold of a GM - Yea, it's not easy to get a GM. I tried one time and the best I got was an email.... psshh.. lame... my only hope for improvement in this department is that once they work out the bugs, maybe the GM's will actually have time to help with some of the other stuff. Still, in the month I played I only attempted to contact a GM one time. AO had a cool thing going... player-made GM program... but.. seemed like those player-support people had ZERO power to help with anything.
Summary: You make totally valid points. To me, the negatives don't outweight the positives. I'm giving the game 6 months, after that I'll be one of the anti-TR people if they don't wrap up some fixes/bugs/balance issues. Still, as I just said... the game is great but it ain't perfect.
Do not buy this game its a joke. I convinced 6 of my real life friends to buy it at launch day. After 4 weeks, we managed to make level 40 and we decied to stop subscriptions altogether. It has no content beyond level 30+ You have been warned. All you do is click click click and more click until the mobs dead. You CALL THIS gameplay???
MMORPGs with gameplay described as "click, click, click and more click until the mobs dead"
WoW - check doublecheck
EQ/EQ2 - check doublecheck
CoH - check doublecheck
EVE-O - check doublecheck
SWG - check have not played
Vanguard - check doublecheck
LOTRO - check doublecheck
FFXI - check never had to click in game!
Second Life - nope doublenope
Guild Wars - check doublecheck
UO- check doublecheck
TR - check doublecheck
Okay, so we have now narrowed down the games you CAN enjoy without clicking mobs dead.....enjoy Second Life!
Ohh and no content past 30? I'm 32 atm and have been doing content for the last 32 lvls. If there is no content past 32, please, tell me what the quests are in my quest log or how you managed to grind the last 20 lvls...off of mobs in CPs? There were no quests in the zones past Pools? Oh, that's right....there just isn't as much...which they already said was being worked on. It's a shame you got so far ahead of the curve that you got ahead of the content additions. I guess working on the other classes till they catch up to you is out of the question since.....well you seem to hate about anything but Second Life anyway because of the whole clicking to kill process. Good luck! I hear SL is an okay game where you can even create your own content.
Hey one more thing I wanted to toss in here, food for thought. Not sure you like the food I'll make you but here it goes.
When I hear complaints in this past month I wonder if any of these people were around for WoW's first month of being live. If you weren't there for the mess, my hat goes off to you because you are exceptionally lucky to not have had to deal with such a horrible launch. Unlike TR's exceptionally smooth launch, WoW was nearly unplayable in it's first 3 weeks.
I remember waiting 10 minutes for the Auction House item list to populate. I remember so many server crashes that they *literally* credited peoples game accounts with money. After waiting in que for hours, when you finally did play... the lag was horrifying. I remember my entire team being thrown off of the servers while running instances. I remember getting stuck in the landscape and all the other issues/bugs that I had. I won't even get started on the whole... servers going down for emergency patches or just.. hell.. the servers going down for no good reason. I once got so stuck between a house and another object that after waiting 4 hours for a GM I simply made a new toon.
Now, I'm not in any way saying that TR is bug free and I am sure.. with Sci-Fi MMO's being such a niche genre... this game didn't see even 1/4 of the number of subscribers in it's first week that Blizzard saw... but understand all the launching problems were not just caused by overstressing the servers (how could they have not known the number of customers that had already signed up pre-launch?) because the servers did have ques to stop the overpopulation.... that still didn't stop all the problems.
I do think this game deserves somewhat of a pat on the back for a smooth launch, a *some-what* polished game and really... lvl 1-35 quests are in pretty good shap and the beginner map lvl 1-15 is in damn good shape.
Anyway, it was just a thought I had... sometimes the big guys like WoW get this unrealistic legendary status in the world but I rememeber all too well a game that seemed like a failure at launch compared to TR.

Theres really nothing more to say as this speaks to the truth so well. TR actually took the initiative to think the other way.
They made the game exciting and engaging from Level 1 and up. This means you didn't have to "work" to 30 or 40 to start getting to the really good stuff. Stuff like decent armor, or ethical quests, or beautifully crafted maps.
TR is the only game I have played from a pre-launch / release were everything was smooth and working. Bug-free, no. Perfect, no. But as Hypo said it does deserve a pat on the back for the amount of polish TR had at release.
i say this game has a lot of potential, tho have to give it some more time, dont expect to have lot things in the first month of a game, give it some time he will grow, if they use the potential the game has, its gonna be a great MMO.
Thats correct! i will not contribute to Richards new cars, houses and extravegant life style for this piece of poopoo game he has made!
Hey there Sautai22. I was just curious about you after reading another post in another thread where you just left a comment that was a lot like the one I've quoted above. I clicked on your name which took me to your "home" page. I see you have posted 50 messages on MMORPG. Of those 50 mesages, 37 of them are Tabula Rasa flame/troll comments. Matter of fact, your last 37 posts over the past 2 months have been nothing but TR flame posts where you basically repeat yourself over and over again about how you dislike this game.
Sometimes when I have a bad day at work, their is nothing I like to do more than get on my PC and blast the ever living sh*t out of the bad guys. This is a form of *healthy* stress relief. I'm making an assumption here, and I don't normally feel safe making assumptions but I would guess that your form of *unhealthy* stress relief is to beat on a horse until it's dead, and then continue beating the horse. In this metaphor, the horse is the TR forums. If you have such distaste for this game that you are willing to go broken record about this game **THIRTY-SEVEN** times... don't you think it's time to move on?
I'd suggest this; Write 1 nice, big, fat, sexy forum post where you review Tabula Rasa using intelligable words/grammer supported by relavant facts about the game and if you wanted to really polish the review... supply some screenshots showing the rest of us how terrible the game is. I think if you did things this way, many more people would be touched by your opinion instead of being repulsed... simply move on. Why the senseless flaming? Just curious here, friend.
I guess you can say theres not much so far, but what was WoW like when it was released? alot of stuff missing. This game is fairly new, and you have to give it a chance to expand.
