Night Vision

DocthartDocthart Member Posts: 34

Sorry couldnt find a post on this. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about the vision at night time. Usually I dont play human characters in a fantasy game, I like to be something i just cant be. But in EQ1 wow, at night it stunk to be a human. Other classes had Infravision, and ofcouse the DE's with Ultravision. Is it going to be the same on EQ2.

Also Do you like the old night seeing or not? why?

Personally since i played Races that could atleast see with infravision I liked it. First character with it was a Dwarf and loved it. Made me feel.... not sure but I liked it. Then loved it with my Dark Elf and his Unltravision. Im guessing they may not even have night like they did in EQ1. But if they do im perfectly okay with it.

I have read that some of the races will have different types of vision.  I'm just not sure on which ones.  Does anyone know if High Elves will have improved night vision?

No classes will be blind in the sense of barbs, humans of erudites in EQ1 where at night or in the dark they couldn't see.  Visions now are clickable abilities to use as you see fit.  There are only three released as of now, which are infravision (more so than the last game they give everything an orange hue and warm blooded creatures glow bright), ultravision (a cool blue look where eveyrthing is lit better to allow you to see clearer) and sonicvision (unreleased info as to what it is, but rumored to be similar to vision a la Predator movies.  My personal guess is it tracks moving objects in that sense).  To balance the classes that get less or no visions, it seems starting resistances will be higher.  Since humans get no visions, I have heard from dev Q&A's that they have highest inate resistances.

Infrasion looks really cool. The one thing about EQ2 I really like, is that they are finally making traditional fantasy roles, incredibly immersive. People forget why Eq1 was popular from the getgo. It was the first immersive online, PURE fantasy world. Everyone seems to think that differing from this, is going to make a more successful game, when the reality is, most people who play eq, and MMO's are lookin for the standard fantasy fare.

We are lighting the world so that you won't be stumbling around in utter darkness even if you don't have some special form of vision. Of course, some places are dark and spooky on purpose, but we agree that total blindness isn't fun.

Are there any screenshots around which show the differences?

Sure there are, but we're too lazy to go and find them for you.  Runsome searchs on the different types of visions, so far I have seen infra and ultra, and they look as I described.  Infra has bright red/orange bodies with a red hue background and ultra makes everything look a blueish violet, which essentially makes it easier to see in areas of less light.
