Two things I hope are gone from the game will be
1) the old Mass training in low level areas to get faction for a high level player. Although a great idea, it really hurt newer players trying to level up in that zone. For example in EQ1 you would see this in Blackburrow. Some high level running around grabbing every mob he could and train them to a spot to kill them all. I used to hate this when i would start a new character and try to play him from scratch with no pling of any form. I know at the release this wont be an issue but it wont take long to be one if its in the game.
2) Althought it was changed, there used to be big AE raid. I remember (being and enchanter) at level 56 to 60 always being asked to join groups to AE. this was when 2 chanters, 2 or 3 wizzies, a cleric, and/or a Puller type would get together to kill a mass amount of mobs. Simple it was puller grabs mobs he can (level close to that of group) and bring them back to the chanters, who would then chain cast Stun spells on the mobs that were AE (area effect). then the wizzies would cast their AE dmg spells and kill them off. The cleric was there to heal or rez if a wipe occured. Again a great idea but was very unfair to other classes. I will say i had done this and dont consider it a bug. Looking back though I see it being wrong. Wrong becuase it was unfair to many people.
I have yet to see any info on this. Ill admit I havent visited many sites yet but MMORPG and the EQ2 (SOE) are the two I really check out alot.
I am curious on your alls thoughts though on this.

Factioning as you knew it is essentially gone. There are only 2 cities and you can only be welcome in one the other you are kos in. After you choose your sub class you can't switch sides anymore either so you only deal with that home city.
Within each city are 5 factions. You can align yourself with anyone of them you want. You then do quests for them to raise your city prestige. As you get better and better prestige you get access to rewards like mounts, titles and improved housing. Once you get these rewards though you have to keep your prestige or else you may lose them. Guilds also align to one of the 5 factions and with very high prestige get special guild halls. So factioning is a much different system in Eq2.
