The raiding communities in every game suck ass and then some. Greedy, self important crafting communities have ruined some games for me, so I add them to the list of the worst too.
With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal
I just want to reiterate this post wasnt meant to bash wow the game in any form shape or fashion as i played a long time and the game itself is fun. I just thought it was a shame its devolved into what it is now adays. I appreciate all the great input and some of these posts made me laugh, especially the one about forumfall and the guy who had the wow comic strip lol that was awesome. I was actually the person who said id never play any mmo but yet here i am. The main reason for that is because the singleplayer roleplaying games which i love dearly are few and far between now adays. Ive been playing the witcher which is an excellent title but who knows when theyll release another game of this calibre? It all basically comes down to whats the most fun at the time i guess. Anyways thanks for the input everybody ive enjoyed reading the posts and got a few laughs along the way to boot.
I invested more time into WoW than other games. At first (on release) it was good and I never suffered any problems. My little gnome rogue had it happy. We even had a server forum we visited and chatted to rival players.
Then I decided to level a horde character and saw the infamous Barrens Chat. Absolute... well I wish there was a word for it.. the people who constantly brag about what they'd done using internet kiddie language like FTW, PEWPEW, KEK, etc at least 5 times a sentence.
I left the game for > 1 year and returned for a bit for the burning crusade and Barrens Chat was pretty much unbearable.
I've not experienced any probs with other games. LOTRO seems good.
