Jump Freighters

Well they finally released them, so whats your opinion on them. I personally feel that they will definatly becoming a majour fixture in low sec.

I very much doubt it will 'fix' anything in low sec because of its very limited jump range.  What I see it being used is for jumping POS fuel and supplies between stations that hold Constellation Sov.  Plus their training time is pretty extensive.  I can see people sticking to Carrier more then jump freighters.

They are very useful for fueling Pos in systems that are not connected to the jumpbridge-network. And, ofc, for getting stuff out of highsec.

Its jumpdrive wont be used while in deep-core of most alliances due to the heavy use of canojammers, but to bring stuff out and in will get easier with them.

Short range of its jump drive only means you need a couple more cyno alts logged off in right systems...

And with the major logistics nerfs of Trinity for other ships (carriers lost a lot of space, Rorquals too), Jump Freighters are going to at least be tested by everyone who can get their hands on one.

Though actually deploying one is going to take couple of weeks yet, they're not exactly easy or fast to invent, then build.

Will be a while :( They are going to cost 9 billion or so.

Nah, all real movers and shakers (alliances) will make their own. Cost when you already have the infrastructure for invention and building is ~4bil, or so I heard. Could be 9bil too, and it wouldn't bother people overmuch. Nowadays the worst lowsec gankers fly motherships, 30-40bil a pop.

    We hunt them. :D

Carriers didnt get a logistics nerf.  They actually had their ship maint. bay increased from 500k to 1mil.

He said 'fixture' not 'fix' :)  Might want to break out a dictionary :)

As to carriers:  They no longer have enough capacity to jump haul anything other than ships and ammo.  You can no longer fill up industrials and stick them in the maintenance array of a carrier (with anything other than ammo) so the only viable means is to either jump bridge freighters or use a jump freighter (or possibly a rorqual as it has a pretty good cargo capacity of it's own).

I suspect you'll see a lot of jump freighters start flying around.  Generally you'll still see fatboys (standard freighters) in highsec but once in lowsec I expect that to be transferred to jump freighters.  It's just much much easier to protect a cyno jumper than it is a ship that has to fly gate to gate.

With 300,000m3 cargo space they're big enough for any jump hauling an alliance needs.  So carriers will become more logistic combat ships, as they were intended.

Your right, I should ready better

As for the carrier I never used them by filling other ships hulls etc... so I dont really see it as a nerf

I truly like the idea of Jump Freighters, they maybe should be a tad cheaper but who knows, maybe its a fair price for such an important role.

Carriers as transports never sounded right to me.
