Looking for a good friendly server (new player)

danobidanobi Member Posts: 11

Hey everybody!

Just finishing up my trial and thinking of picking up the whole Kunark kit. Anyone have any ideas on a good server? I'm not really ANTI PvP but I'm not really into it either... any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Permafrost has moderate to heavy traffic during the day, to moderate at night.

Mistmoore works well. You might like to consider it.

Antonia Bayle (RP), is nicely populated, never a dull moment and fairly easy to find a group as a new player (I just started back up recently as well), in addition, if you're into roleplaying -- I'd say about 90% of the folks I've run into stay in character the whole time. It's a nice refreshment from something like WoW, where "RP" only means that you're safe from PvP, yet somehow the assclowns and mindless, all caps, profaine, idiotic chat still seems to flood the public channels.

Now theres a good idea, send people to the server thats overcrowded and having server issues because of it.

I would suggest creating your character during your peak play time and picking a server with medium to heavy load and avoid the heavest load servers such as AB. The good thing about EQ2 is that the community is pretty good on all the servers so you really can't go wrong.

Well...the problem is...AB is the BEST server...so it is hard NOT to suggest it. But, I also agree that the server is getting overloaded now...

Maybe we need to select a new server as the "BEST" server and start making characters there, and logging in on a regular basis...

    Who is with me?

What is the suggested server? Idea's?

    Thanks

I would say Butcherblock....one of the well-populated original pve servers, great community, well rounded population at all levels, but not totally overcrowded like AB....

Hey, thanks for all the suggestions everybody.

I've never done the RP thing before and worry that I would probably screw it up.

I'm really digging EQ2 for the fact that it doesn't seem like a race to lvl "X". I've enjoyed making different classes and races, even when that involves repeating quests which is something I normally can't stand. I didn't really run into many people during my trial time (I tried characters on Vox and Frostfell) maybe 2 or 3 that tried to group with me without speaking which is kind of a pet peeve of mine. Overall I've been very impressed with the game for as much as I've seen of it.

I don't know anyone who is playing EQ2 at all so if anyone would like to take a n00b under their wing I would be open to guild suggestions. No real requirements on my part other than being friendly, maybe patient and hopefully populated. Also I wouldn't mind a heads up of any race/class combinations that are somehow deemed sucky. I have a history of pretty much always randomly picking the worst race/profession/class combinations possible... it's a gift.

To anyone looking to give this game a shot I would like to say: As someone who has played most of the older MMOs (SWG, AO, Aces High, Planetside, Jumpgate, DaOC, Horizons, WoW, etc, etc.) at one point or another. I'm very very impressed with the depth and feeling of immersion I get with EQ2. It's like I told a friend of mine, "It's like WoW for grownups!". Give it a shot. I don't think you'll regret it.

    Thanks again for the suggestions,

    Dan

Guk is nice.  Good number of players and most are helpful if you try to learn and don't beg of course.

I actually hadn't chosen yet... was kinda waiting to see what the consensus was. My trial ended last night so I need to go pick up the game. I've heard a couple of suggestions for Butcherblock. So I'm definitely interested.

    Thanks

    bah I was confused

-- I'm on the Blackburrow server

admittadly my server is not bustling at the lower levels so may be better to use other recommendations

if you do come to Blackburrow tho

    - I would be happy to group and do lower level content

    when starting a new character,

highly recommend going to Gorowyn for quests and quest gear

Wiki is handy for telling you where to go at what level

    Nadia,

Thanks for the offer! I'll definitely look into it! Hate for you to have to spend time mucking around with a n00b.

Thanks for the other info as well, I'll be checking it out!

Nektulos server could use some love. Sure our population isn't the best, but I really enjoy the people on the server, and as a healer I have absolutely no problem finding a group. I'll generally log onto my 59 inquisitor and be able to find a group ready to go in minutes, but again I am a healer so that probably helps lol.

Other then the low population, I have had no gripes what so ever with the community on Nektulos. Everyone I've run into is pretty cool and laid back. Plus I love the people in my current guild.

So what server is suggested if I want to have a RP server wich has pvp enabled and is quite full but not overcrowded? Does not have to be super RP server, but just enough to keep the children at bay...

    Best regards, Davoud

    Venekor (PvP Role Playing)

    or

    Nagafen (PVP)

How come you recommended Nagafen? Is it a good server with mannered people that in some occasions do RP?

    Best regards, Davoud

was offering more than 1 PVP choice

    - theres only 2 pvp servers (unless you want to use the exchange server)

most  people are playing EQ2 strictly for PVE only
