Ok I need alittle help here

in Final Fantasy XI

Ok I have a story I was really interested in this game and spent alot of time researching it and all and so I got enough money together and bought the game and the first 3 expansions I think. Now if I ever give someone advice I say its better to play the game and get stronger before you get into expansions but in the game I noticed there is something about Jobs and in I think 2 of the 3 expansions there are new ones and I was confused. So I played the game for a couple days and all the confusion went around about the game that I don't feel like going into (The Expansion keys weren't working) so I started out with a new 30 day start out and when I first played it I was trying to be one of the Jobs in the expansions or atleast one of them and it wouldn't work.

Ok now there is the story, now my problem is that I heard like a million different ways to become what I wanted some tougher than others and being a complete noob to the game it was confussing. I havn't used the new 30 day thing I got and I'm hoping to figure some of this out before I really play it. Although I might just join during summer but it doesn't matter.

My question is someone explain what I should do? Should I play the game and not worry about the Jobs till I get there or did I miss something I should know about XD

    Could you be a little bit more descriptive and say what job you were trying to unlock? You can't unlock advanced jobs until level 30. If you say what job you want to become, we can suggest a subjob that you can level to use when you get to 30 and unlock the advanced job you're aiming for.

    Oh well thanks sure I can. There were just a bunch of interesting ones and I think I found out that they are seperated out in different places. These were some interesting ones I though I would like to be:

    Dragoon, Puppetmaster, and just a normal one not from the expansions but a Summoner I think was the name

    Original advanced jobs - pld, rng, drg, brd, drk, BST

    Expansion Zilaart - Nin, sam, Summoner

    Expansion chain of promethia - None but a heck of a great story.

    Expansion TOAU - Pup, cor, bluemage

    expansion WoTG - dancer, scholar
