This may be where they get funding for Darkfall

and the reason they moved to Greece to develop.

""you must be aware that software development is one of the market sectors in Greece that is subsidized by the state using EU funds to help develop the local industry. So my guess is that a significant portion of Aventurine's money comes from state sponsorships via these funds...""

  • QuestionableQuestionable Member Posts: 653

They did say that it would be cheaper to develop in greece which is why they moved there in the first place.

It could be possible. It could also explain why they don't have a massive team and it's taking so long to get done.  This could be looked at in both a good way and a bad way. Good because they probably have money to pay people but bad in that it probably is not anywhere near enough to hire the team they would actually want or need.

You also have to consider that if the government is the one giving them the money, there is ZERO chance that the devs will be manipulated into changing the game to "suit a wider audience." You don't HAVE to have a team of 100 devs to build a game... even with 20, it will be finished eventually. We will just have to wait longer. This can only be a good thing for them, IMO.

This is a old story and its not new either, its been stated before that they have gotten money from the Greece Military or something like that.

This game can't fail to be great. Let's just hope adventurine won't fall. But if it's gouvernement fund, it's probably a god news, so they can keep making the right choices. Wich no company was able to do.

  • GuitanoGuitano Member Posts: 208

They panhandle freeway exits for cash to work on the game, that may be why its taking so long... jk, when the game goes live ill be there. Been waiting just as long as all of you for the game.

You could be right here.  AA is funded by the US Army so governments footing the bill for video games is nothing new.  Let's hope they do deliver a solid game because I'd hate to see the devs forced into military service for defaulting on seed money.  They might end up forward observers in Turkey or something.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vaporware

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Yeah, Farlan (DnL) had money. They were based in Reunion Island (noone has businesses or homes on Reunion Island unless they have money. So, having money doesn't amount to squat when it comes to putting out a game.

And how is it a known fact that employees are being paid to make the game? Have you seen paystubs? IRS returns?

And you want darkfall to succeed. How is your word going to make that happen?

And before you start shouting about how they got millions in bonds, supposing they did, where is proof it is for Darkfall and not some other little venture of Aventurines?

Who's doom calling? I thought I had very reasonable questions in my post in reply to statements you made.

I have also been known to change my mind based on evidence which shows me I've been wrong. So far, that evidence hasn't been shown. Doesn't mean I won't accept it if and when it is.

the thing is if it was a scam the company wouldnt even exist  and it woulda died long ago

Nope, at this point it's not a scam

A scam would be selling pre-orders for a game that doesn't exist.

Allowing people to believe there's a game when it doesn't exist would just make them asshats.

  • KillershiverKillershiver Member Posts: 187

LOL if thats what they was doing i would be tottally pissed just because this is the type of game i want all the mmos coming out including the new ones are very linear not sure about fallien earth or tcos

Your calling quite a few people liars without ANYTHING backing up what your saying. The only thing you have is your own personal speculation to back up your word and yet you ask for evidence to support their claim.(I guess things more than SS, videos, testimonies, and such) I ask you for CREDIBLE evidence that it doesnt exist but of course all you can show me is your own thoughts.

Its very obvious what your trying to do. Your trying to disguise a possibility as a likely. If thats the "logic"(if it can be called that) your using then if I say you killed someone than it must be true.

Did anyone see you do it? No. Did anyone not see you do it? No. Now by your logic this means that you've killed the person. You see how flawed it is now?

Are you really that incapable of reading a post typed in simple English? Killer said it's not a scam. I agreed, citing an example of what would constitute it being a scam. And I said, as quoted: "Allowing people to believe there's a game when it doesn't exist would just make them asshats.". I did not say that was what they were doing, I merely stated what they would be if they were doing such. Get off your fuckin' highhorse, and learn to read. Please.

And the next time you want to tell someone what they are "obviously trying to do", try knowing what your talking about.

And where in my post did I call anyone liars? Again, stop talking out your ass and give your mouth a chance.

  • hal9001hal9001 Member Posts: 7

I call them liars because they said Beta would begin in September, 2003.  And all the other times they lied.  If someone is calling the developers at Darkfall liars, they are stating the plain facts, and nothing else.  And also I think Darkfall is a scam where they pretend to have a game and a lot of hype for that game when really they have little or nothing at all, and no real potential for ever having an actual product, and the SCAM part is that they are trying to trick investors into funding them and hopefully buying them out in order to continue funding their party lifestyle in Greece which allows them to take the day off, supposedly, and throw a party every time a random clan member from anywhere in the world shows up to visit [but for some reason these visits are accompanied with no proof of game or even photos to prove they even happened at all].

The whole thing stinks of scammery, and the lies have been there that anyone who followed the game's development for a long time has seen.  That is why people just don't laugh at this game, it actually has enemies, because of how they lied to and tried to deceive the gaming public and gaming publications, none of which [practically] will cover Darkfall anymore.

Beta was scheduled for DF in 2003. As of right now, that equates to about a four year delay.
Yet you stand here and are somehow able to criticize AoC, which originally was slated to release on April 24th of this year. Since the new release date is planned for March 25 of 2008, it will have been delayed roughly one year.
If AoC is delayed until 2010, you can start to draw comparisons between AoC and Darkfall's illustrious development cycle.
