XM or Sirius?

Im looking for opinions on both services, not necessarily the recievers of each because they dont matter much, maybe a beware of this model reciever its bad or whatever but  im mainly looking for opinions on the service like which has better stations, less static, stuff like that.  I know they are going to merge into one company  very soon but it doesnt matter as of right now because from what im reading it will be atleast another year before its official because they have to get permission from the fcc or something like that.

Its for my dad he drives an oil truck delivering gas to gas station and private jets about 11 hours a day and i cant imagine myself listening to the same 7 songs over and over again so i thought this would be a nice christmas present.

Well, this is sorta of a biased review, but I'm all for Sirius. I don't know a whole bunch about XM, but on Sirius, they have some pretty nice jazz stations. I mostly listen to jazz and the classical stations, but every once and awhile I find myself going down to the 10-20 stations and listening to rock. The rock is pretty nice. All Elvis, and Im pretty sure theres an all Greatful Dead and all Rolling Stones Channel. The comedy channels are pretty funny. They have some underground, super funny comedians on them.

I'm all for Sirius. No complains. No fuzz. And the disc jockeys barely say too words. It's great.

I can say anything about XM but my dad has Sirius, FM radio was always junk with crappy songs and commercials. What I can say about sirius is that there is a channel for pretty much every kind of music, I think the difference between the two is that XM might have more talk shows/sports. But you can actually go on siruis website and sign up for 3 day trail where you listen to it through your computer.

alright guys thanks for the reviews.  As of right now it seems like sirius is the service im going with, i read a couple reviews and sounds like people like it better.  The only reason im considering xm though is because they have alot of holiday specials and it comes out cheaper but i think ill stick with quality.

I used to have XM, but have Sirius now, although not of my own free will (bought a new car, came with 6 months free). Personally, I like XM MUCH more than Sirius. I am a huge Rock fan and where as Sirius seems to play all the popular common-radio things, on XM they actually played more underground stuff as well as the popular stuff. It was a really good mix. For example, Sirius' punk station plays almost nothing but Rise Against, Against Me, Bad Religion, and Social D (of which Rise Against and Against Me aren't even punk!). I never had that problem with XM, the punk station was punk and they played it all. It was great.

Also of note, XMs comedy station is waaaaay better than Sirius'. I used to listen to XM Comedy the entire way to my destination sometimes, with Sirius I can't even sit through it for 5 minutes before I switch back to my Zune.

    Hope this helps.

    Eternally mine,
    Keebs

Deal wise I think Sirius is better. I have had them for years now. Sirius subscribers get internet sirius for free while XM users I believe still have to pay (someone correct me if I am wrong). It is low quality, but if you're in the office with crappy speakers it is better than nothing and beats FM anyday.

You can upgrade to the CD quality internet stream and I think that is still cheaper than subbing to XMs internet stream.

Grim you should get one for yourself and get on your Dads account for just six dollars more. You'll never go back to FM again!
