What is the World like? Large? Immersive? Dangerous? Instance?

I am extremely computer illiterate.

I have heard you need Vista to play AoC?

Is that true?  Or will XP run AoC just fine?

    That's for DX10 version buddy....

You will be able to play it on XP!!!

Actually, i have been kind of wondering if they are just gonna keep giving out letters to DX9 until XP is finally no longer supported?  With the current state of things, we might actually see a DX9z... :P

I am actually watching this right now www.stage6.com/user/AcolyteAvery/video/1953748/

I was hoping to obtain some insights from those who followed the game.  I have not been closely following AoC, but the more I learn... I the more I like.

Game world is about 185 Square Miles, made up of over 30 zones upto several kilometers in length, and comprising totally of around atleast 900 hours of gameplay. That is not all of the map you see in the video your watching, just a small portion, with the world ripe for expansion. Some area's are instanced, some are not. You can swap you skills out anytime anywhere, depending on the situations need, unlike say Guild Wars if you have played that. Funcom, if you didnt know where the company that invented 'instancing' so they have a good grasp on the technology there. From the FAQ page on the main website, it stipulates that they will use that tech wisely, such as for dungeons (of which there are quite a few!)

PvP and PvE levels are seperate, 80lvls PvE,  20 lvls PvP, 5 lvls of Mercenary, plus a multitude of other benefits in say crafting. PvE gear and PvP gear can have seperate stats, meaning that the awesome sword you got in raiding wont necessarily be the best in PvP, meaning you dont have to Raid to get the best items. Complementing this approach is the fact that if one of your PvE skills gets nerfed it wont affect so much the PvP side of things and vice versa.

There will be different server types with different rulesets, such as FFA servers, and also RP servers. Looting is still to be detirmined on these server types.

Crafting isn't experience based and therefore not a 'day job' you advance via tiers completed by the deep quest system in place.

Its a GvG type of game, which gives a traditional approach, with new elements, such as the combat type amongst other things. It covers lots of bases for me, especially with the character customization you can see from that vid your watching. Anyhow, expect a flock of more detailed info to come from the company in January.

Hopefully, you can see past the tits and blood which some people find offensive and see the deeper game presented, to be honest its there for people to see! one good video too: http://www.gamespot.com/video/927504/6183430/
