I am not a fan of WAR. I don't understand the following really. I think the best thing about the game is the company behind it....Mythic. I was never into the Warhammer IP or a fan of their graphics or art style. The classes aren't that interesting. I am a huge fan of DAoC and would have rather seen them remake that instead.
I'm not going to start one of my rants again, but I fear that WAR will only be a WoW with PvP. A game that appeals to the majority, is easy to get into, and will be populated mostly by the unsavory kind of people. For a point of reference, I compare all games to DAoC and preNGE SWG.

i believe it all revolves around it bringing in the fanbase of the tabletop game, and all the old fans of daocs pvp, as long as mythic stays away from overpowered expansion classes/items this game will blow away every other game out there in terms of pvp immersion

aye, agree. That, and Paul + all the videos comming out all the time, so ppl can follow the development a bit. Its a bit geeky, but it works

I didn't care about WAR till few month's ago.. I though the samething, but when reading more about it and looking more into it..
WAR and WoW are 100% different and nothing alike.. IMO anways//
WARs pve is the exact replica of WoW's pve, public quest are the only thing that differentiats the pve, go ahead and try and tell me how wars pve is diffrent than wows pve, ill just laugh in your face.
WARS RVR has alot more going for it, but the basics are also the exact replica of WoWs, run to enemy, spam 1-5, use interupt skill, use instant heal, run/die
So saying they are very diffrent is like saying a clementine is a diffrent than a orange, they are both a orange but one is smaller, obviously wow is the clementine but im not gonna be some douche fanboy and say they are completely diffrent because thats noobtarded

I'll take a stab here.
Your first statement is somewhat contradictory. You say the PVE is no different, then say PQ's differentiate WAR from WoW. WoW requires you to do alot of quests that grind certain mobs for a certain number of drops (ie: kill murlocs till you get one corrupted heart). War devs stated that is not the case in their game. Quests in WoW will also often require you to kill a certain number of mobs after talking to the quest giver, in War, the devs have stated that you can kill the mobs and then talk to the quest giver for credit (ie. you don't have to go back and kill more of the mobs you may have already been killing to get quest credit). WoW has raids, War does not.
The devs have stated that WAR is not as focused on items as WoW is (but this is up in the air unless your in beta).
WAR has RvR in the open world with keeps, and WAR has instanced battlegrounds with multiple stages. WoW has capture the flag/location and Arenas.
There is a difference. Now the mechanics may be the same as to how you play your character (which you allude to), but there are differences in the PVE and PVP in the two games.
Laugh away.
edit: Now bear in mind I don't dispute you on the fact that WAR has alot of similarities to WoW, but according to the devs, they have removed alot of the grinding aspects of WoW, added in some of their own flare. WAR is not the first MMO to borrow concepts from other MMOs. WoW was not an original product either. What WAR promises is more focus on the fun (little grinding), and more purposeful PvP. I enjoyed WoW for a long time, and look forward to WAR.
MMO Vet since AOL Neverwinter Nights circa 1992. My MMO beat up your MMO. =S
I never really read stuff about this game, but it looks to be very popular. What makes it so popular?
The only thing this question will get you on this website is a flame war between simpleminded WAR and AoC fans. Most on these forums think you can't like both, so there has not been a constructive post for either game in months. Every thread devolves into the same crap spewed by both sides over and over and over.
If you want to know about the game I'd suggest researching yourself and not relying on forums for any useful information on either WAR or AoC.
It's past the point of childish now. It's pathetic.
MMOs Played: EQ 1&2, DAoC, SWG, Planetside, WoW, GW, CoX, DDO, EVE, Vanguard, TR Playing: WAR Awaiting 40k Online and wishing for Battletech Online
I didn't want to play a WoW-clone either, so I actually researched WAR months ago. The WOW-clone crap is just lazy criticism. It's not like they're hiding the game mechanics and developement, it's all out there in the open. Try looking into it yourself, or let simpletons feed you your opinion so you don't have to think.

To stay on topic, most of my interest is in Mythic. A team with years of success and experience, taking a fresh approach and (hopefully) learning from their first. When you look at the success DAoC had, and the fact that it's still running, a new MMO from Mythic is something to get excited about.

The devs stated WAR's PvE questing is different than WoW, so it must be true? That's called spin. You can hype anything up when nobody has their hands on it....it's all BS until real gamers get their hands on it and can judge the game for what it is. For the record, PvE questing in WAR will be the same as all other MMOs right now. Get used to it, devs say their game is different/new/revolutionary, but it's all the same. The only exception is LOTRO, where the devs actually admitted to wanting to copy WoW and make it 'easy to transition'.

What a ridiculous statement, PvE in Daoc was like pulling teeth, the only saving grace waas that it was easy to powerlevel. War looks to be much much more quest based which makes it way more similar to WOW's implementation than Daoc's.
I probably did 5 quests total in my entire Daoc career.

1. Very popular IP from Games Workshop - far more popular overseas than here.
2. Developed by a very popular company called Mythic Entertainment
3. Focuses on RvR (Realm vs. Realm) which is a larger scale form of PvP.
4. If you want to read stuff about the game then check out the stickied thread at the very top of this forum.

Ugh. This game sounds like a WoW clone with better RvR and easier grinding. I hated WoW, but if i get in the WAR beta, i dunno...
Blizzard should have never made WoW.. Because of people who think every new MMO is killer.. The hardcore WoW fanboys/girls anyways..
That why i hated WoW at first..

This game isnt even out yet, so nothing is great about it !

Thats original.
Wierd isnt it, this is the only new beg released game that has those WoW comparison problems. TCoS and AOC dont have those problems.
Maybe with a reason?
