Guild Wars isn;t that sort of game, nor is it even an MMO...

Besides you CAN craft max Weapons and even get some free from collectors, but some gamers think that a pretty skin makes a difference to a weapon

Speaking of crafting... is there some sort of alchemy type skill. Kinda of like what is in WoW. Can you make potions for health?

No, you cannot create potions for health, but there are ways and means of increasing one's power for a certain time through the use of Candy Canes, Drake Kabobs etc.

Back to the original topic, as mentioned before, Guild Wars simply is not the type of game that can support a successful crafting profession. One needs to take into consideration the fact that the game is instanced. In any typical persistent MMO one usually comes across various materials through their journey, then mines/harvests the materials. Luck plays a big role in getting materials before anyone else does.

In Guild Wars, however, the instances mean that it is you and and only you who can obtain these materials. As a result, there will either be:

    A) A sudden influx of materials causing the crafting market to basically crash

    or

    B) ArenaNet limit the amount of materials per instance. In order for this to have any effect, however, they will have to limit it quite significantly, meaning that the chances of  actually finding materials would be very slim, especially in large areas.

Therefore, I say we should just be patient and wait for Guild Wars 2. I'm sure a persistent Guild Wars will be able to support crafting quite well.
