I think people who clearly can't see that the new game is Diablo3 in some form are very delusional. Just google blizzard project hydra.
I can't see what this proves. Starcraft II was code named Medusa at one point, so obviously Blizzard has taken a fancy toward naming their secret projects after Greek Mythology creatures to keep them secret. What does that have to do with Diablo? And sure, they are probably going to do something with the Diablo IP at some point, but when or what is the question. At this point it's all just speculation and as someone pointed out earlier I wouldn't rule out a completely new IP. With the recent success of WoW and the almost certain success of Starcraft II, they could just about make a game about lawn chairs and it would sell millions. LOL
I agree. StarCraft Online it will most likely be. The world-wide base for StarCraft is still quite large. And StarCraft 2 will provide a natural springboard for SCO (can we call it SCO?).
No, SCO should be reserved for Star Control Online. Some devs make it so.
BTW Pappy13 any MMO game Blizzard creates sci fi or fantasy will directly compete with WoW. Its the nature of the beast, so its completely with in the realm of possibilities its another fantasy game. Though I'm still leaning for something more sci fish... and praying its not Diablo. (because while i love diablo...i don't love it that much!)
It will compete from the perspective of an MMO, but we all know that there are those that prefer Sci-Fi to Fantasy and vice versa, so it wouldn't compete from that standpoint. And I'm not really sure that Diablo belongs in the Sci-Fi classification. I'd put it more into a 3rd category that might be classified as Horror or maybe Gothic or maybe Dark Fantasy.
Meh, if it turns out to be Diablo, my view of Blizzard will change greatly, but it doesen't mean I woudn't play it. It would just mean that Blizzard is beeing mean, not giving us, SciFi fans something to play and Fantasy fans something to hate even more than WoW... if that's even possible.
Its an Office place MMO based around the various staff positions one might expect at a generic office. First there will be the all purpose love child class (paralegal), the crowd control class (secretary) the damage dealer class (human resources) the tank class (customer service) the long range class (fax assistant) and the healer (janitor). These classes will embark on a thrilling and engaging adventure that many will find parallels their own life as they fight off creditors, seek a reliable vehicle, and triumph over the forces of conformity.
Expected to be out around 2011.
Believe it or not, I'd actually play that lol! will we get to bash mobs "The boss" with a mop or broom if we play the janitor class? lol! Do we heal our team mates with dirty mop water?
I kind of imagined janitors getting stuff from a supply room or for uber healing items, organizing a raid on some sort of medical warehouse where they have to fight run of the mill guards, employees, and perhaps the raid boss could be some sort of frankenstein monster.
Its too bad no mmo company asks me for my ground breaking ideas because you know I could break the mold and make people flabbergasted by the Office MMO (expect hookers to be included in the expansion, havent decided on whether they will be a class or a mob though.)
If you are not being responded to directly, you are probably on my ignore list.
Im curious if anyone else is tired of elves, swords and dwarfes ?
NO.
I don't care what setting a game is in as long as the gameplay is good. So far WoW's gameplay trounces the competition and that's why it has 9 million subscribers.
I expect their next MMO to do the same and I could care less what backdrop they use. I'd be just as interested in exploring a world based on Diablo as I would Starcraft.
