I can't believe this hasn't made the news thread. I know there are other threads about this, but I was hoping to catch a Mods attention so they could put it on the news thread.

Breaking news from SOE's Podcast! SOE will be re-activating all Vanguard accounts for FREE play from December 18th to January 3rd. If you've cancelled your account, make sure to load Vanguard up and give it another try for free! This is not the free trials, but it's for players that had a Vanguard account. Vanguard just released its first premier raid dungeon with over 18 bosses, as well as two raid world bosses. There is also holiday decorations everywhere, with mountable flying reindeers and housing decorations that's available to everyone. It is a great time to come back to the game! Performance has also been greatly improved!

I really admire SOE for doing this. I know a few people coming back, and I hope they subscribe because what really prevented a lot of people I know from sticking around was 1) performance and 2) end-game. 1) performance has been fixed.* And 2) end-game now has multiple group dungeons and raid content.
*I think performance is not perfect, but I think it is just about the best it possibly could be. You will probably still require a decent rig to run the game, though. Speaking for myself, my performance is consistently 90 to 95% except while in crowded cities or dungeons.

Just spoke with a TSR from the online chat help.. this is what I was told.

TSR Matthew H.: Ok Shane, I've just looked into this for you, and it appears the promotion was delayed until thursday morning.
Shane: So it will start on the 20th of December?
TSR Matthew H.: It appears that way yes.

Hi everyone,
Yes, the reactivation is still happening, and we're excited to welcome back old players and let them experience all the fun and challenge Vanguard has to offer. Not all accounts have been reactivated as of yet (there are a lot of them to turn back on!) Hopefully everyone who wants to give Vanguard another try will be back in game soon! We will continue to flag accounts until all who qualify have access again.

A friend of mine just logged in.
I really wish SOE would promote this more, as I spoke with a number of friends from other games about it that had no idea they could play for free.*
*I mean those I know who had accounts and canceled. But, ya, I know someone who is in right now because of the free play.
