This game will not appeal to everyone.

First off each sea battle will be about the same the only changes will be in minor ways the number of ships you fight and some added geography and a bit of weather.  But in truth that is exactly the way ship combat at this time was and to a large degree how it is today. So many folks will not care for it as it can get semi repetive. But the combat is very realistic and very accurate to the time period. The ships are great looking and it can be fun to just sail around in them. You can also go into ship design and make ships that can be added to the game.

The economy in this game is the best I have every seen bar none. Eve's economy was ok but it was very boring to sit and mine all day so you could sell or build stuff. So none of the boring stuff from eve. You can do your production, transport some goods and then get to missions or pvp or whatever you want to do. This is great for casual players as you don't have to choose between making stuff or fighting you can do both very easy. The complexity of the economy is just simply great. It allows you to really have an impact on production through out the server. But it is also great in that if you don't really want to do much you can setup something simple and sell it and still have an impact and make money with even less time investment.

Avatar combat was added in as a afterthought and it shows but work has been steadily moving forward on it. It has seen alot of improvment over the time in the game so far and shows great signs of moving foward. The system is easy to start up and do things but is really very complex if you really start to use what you have and see the power you have.

PVP is the main driving force of the game. Anyone that sinks a ship (PVE or PVP), makes an item or moves goods from one port to another is participating in PVP. They are supporting thier faction. The fact that if actual PVP combat is not your bag. You can avoid the areas that are PVP active and your fine. So you can choose to be active and hunt for and or help to take ports. Or just play the rest of your game and never shoot another player.

The single greatest factor of the game...The devs. They listen to players and they work hard to make a historically accurate game but also a very fun game. Fun is watchword. Before they make a change they determine if it would be more fun with or without the change. And everyone at the company is required to play the game 4 hours a day. So you may very well have one or two dev's in your society or in your friends list.

Now while I would love to see the game get more stuff before launch what they have now is very playable. And what they plan for the future is great. I have yet to see a MMO release that has everything everyone wanted in before release.

So if you want a game with a bright future this would be it. It is a good game as it stands but with the dev team they have I expect this game to develop into one of the best games out there.
