That's what always blows my mind about Smeds 'the game was bleeding subs' remark.  Even a dumbassed hick like me could see one of the main reasons why it was 'bleeding subs'.

And the remark by some LA suit, something along the lines of there were only 1% of Creature Handlers, that's why it was taken out.  Yet another simple thing....it was broke!  So was Ranger, especially after the CU.

Instead patch after patch was Jedi this, Jedi that.  No direction...no additions for the Raider crowd, no additions for the PVP crowd.  Just work on an expansion and time it for the release of a movie and all will be well, regardless if the expansion is working or not.  They were, just barely.

They even did an overhaul of Creature Handler a few weeks before the NGE announcement, and there was an official post about some of the changes they were going to do to the Ranger....finally!

And the poor Smugglers, good grief that is a whole other post in itself.

Add in a little no direction + no common sense and that Smed and Co is a major reason 'the game was bleeding subs'

It always seems to come back to Blizz envy.

CH, Jedi, Commando, Smuggler, BH, Scout, Doctor, Chef, BE...yeah, lots of SWG time invested.

I want the game EXACTLY the way it was preCU. Yes, there were problems/bugs. They could have spent less time fixing the already identified bugs than revamping the entire game.

I mean the exploits were addressed usually. There needed to be a solution for the mind bar. Those really were my only problems with the game. I liked going to the cantina in Cnet. Buff lines were cool because I go to chat with others and it's cool seeing the different types of characters people made, reading bios, etc... It broke up the time grinding in the middle of nowhere solo.

You know what? I liked everything about the game. Yes I was a Jedi. I was on the last Knight Trials mission the night before the CU. I was so happy that I was a full template Jedi, I was a ML/MP 4004 Healer Glass Cannon. Uber? No. But it was my playstyle and I liked it and did pretty good. I also felt different than the typical Jedi. It was a great accomplishment that hasn't been matched ever since.

I also LOVED my TKM/Commando. Hell, I loved all the combat professions and combinations of skills. I even had fun wearing stormy armor and having 3 stormies in formation just to screw around, like making waypoints for them to patrol around the camps. It just looked cool.

I love watching hardcores gnash their teeth in frustration at the popularity and success of WoW.  Hehehe.

With PvE raiding, it has never been a question of being "good enough". I play games to have fun, not to be a simpering toady sitting through hour after hour of mind numbing boredom and fawning over a guild master in the hopes that he will condescend to reward me with shiny bits of loot. But in games where those people get the highest progression, anyone who doesn't do that will just be a moving target for them and I'll be damned if I'm going to pay money for the privilege. - Neanderthal

What ticked me off most was actually the CU!

It was the change from the skill based system to a level based system that in my opinion did the largest damage to SWG.

Only a complete return to the pre-CU system will get me back again.

Only the demise of SWG and the genesis of SWG2 could get me to even try another Star Wars MMO at this point. But I could be wrong if they did revert to enough of the old stuff I might go back. It was such a great game VERY different from all the rest, all they needed was to fix the bugs and add some CONTENT!!! Wish they would just do that.

I'm still amazed at all the things you could do in the original game.  From attacking imperial bases to catching fireflies in a jar and letting them go, fireworks, beach parties, massive flight sim pvp, and the list goes on.  It was such a trip to spend part of an evening in combat, then play in the band at the cantina afterwards lol.  Amazing possiblities, so open ended.

It doesn't matter what they add to the current core game, it won't be worth playing.  The core game is horrible, and no matter what they slap on top of it, it won't make the core game any more fun.  The attempts to hide the extremely poor core mechanics (expertise and target lock) have done nothing to improve the game.  The UI is horrible (to the point where even the biggest fanbois will recommend you download unauthorized third party mods and spend an hour remapping the keysmap), combat is horrible, the class system is horrible, character movement is horrible,  the quests that have been added since the NGE are horrible, and the developers working on it aren't talented enough to fix any of that.  The game is a complete wash at this point.
