NAO to Use Military Satellites to Spy on Americans

What is the NAO?

It is a newly created department of Homeland Security, known as the National Applications Office.  When the Wall Street Journal exposed the department, its plans to use military satellites to spy on Americans was placed on hold after outcry on capital hill (Congress).

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/National_Applications_Office

Will the NAO be able to spy on me?

Yes.  The National Applications Office will expand the domestic use of satellite imagery by federal and local authorities; it is not just about "terrorism."

What else should I know?

Here is the whopper.  The NAO, a part of the Homeland Security Department, will soon unveil a 15 BILLION dollar [and you do not have health care] multiyear program to protect the nation's Internet infrastructure from attacks.  According to the Wall Street Journal, "the program has been shrouded in secrecy for months" and involves government protection of private computer networks.

I am a bit confused?  Can you sum it up?

Sure.  Do you know how the Iraq war is privatizing soldiers and mercenaries with Blackwater and Halliburton and other private, for-profit companies?  Well, not only will domestic intelligence now involve the military but it will also involve private contractors.  Satellites and Internet.

Think that quote sums it up pretty well.

Does the constitution mean nothing to you?  Do your rights mean nothing to you?  If this is your solution to the problem obviously not.

Do I worry that the government is going to pick me out of millions  of people to spy on? No. Do you? if so, put on your tin foil hat and maybe they won't be able to track you. I also heard that if you stand perfectly still, the sattelites can't take pictures of you... might want to try that too.

These satellites aren't going to be used to catch you as you masturbate with your mom in the adjacent room. They are going to be used by law enforcement officials to catch criminals using means that were previously not available to them.  I'm not running a crack house, harboring terrorists, or escorting immigrants illegally over the border. If you aren't either.. why do you care?

I care because when they take our right to privacy away, regardless of how it is used, whats next, freedom of speech, right to bear arms, what?  No I am not some paranoid freak, I am just a concerned citizen who does not want the government in any of my personal life.

What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? What about privacy? (I know, silly me for thinking Americans should have privacy instead of being spied on like criminals)

Where do you live? O.O and can I move there when the Real ID and chip implant s**t hits the fan? I'm not expecting to stay here if that ever happens. I'd sooner go hide in a forested area. and live off the land then live on the grid.

    RADIO-FREQUENCY IDENTIFICATION

The RFID chip is already in U.S. passports.  I believe the U.S. is the only country on the Earth to track its citizens travel habits through the use of the RFID chip technology.

They want a national I.D. card with the RFID chip technology in it.  I think it is coming soon. It will probably start by standardizing driving licenses and move from there.

All U.S. passports will be implanted with remotely readable computer chips starting in October 2006, the Bush administration has announced.

    www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/09/15/AR2006091500923.html

ME:  The only paranoid people are those that think we need the use of civilian and military satellites to spy on our citizens in addition to the RFID chip in our passports and driver licenses.

As an aside, the RFID chip in automobiles has been used to prove 1) criminal and 2) civil cases (especially in divorce suits) to verify a person's whereabouts.

Cheat on your wife? No?  The chip tells me you passed through this toll, and you have to pass this toll to get to your girlfriend's house!  Now what do you say?  The RFID chip does not lie!

    God Bless America!

Interesting point, but jesus chris. I would hardly consider your example that "RFID doesn't lie" for instance, what if the toll also happens to be the one he takes for work? or a favorite restaurant? I also found it funny that in your example they ASSUME that he has a girlfriend to begin with. He said he didn't have one, he could be lieing, maybe he isn't. But the fact that even though he said no, they kept assuming he did have a girl friend. I don't know, I think this country is becoming to paranoid that they feel they need all these extra security measures. It's like we honest to good don't trust EACH OTHER anymore. I mean, I can kind of see how we could be suspicious of say illegals (drug trafficking crossing through the border, rumors of al quaeda crossing the mexican border etc. etc.) but when an american cant trust another american to the point that we feel everything needs surveillance, I think it's messed up.

I think that is the point I was trying to make and not the point you think I was trying to make.

The RFID chip is not reliable technology and should not even be used.  I just finished reading an article about how employers are firing employees for off-time activities because they can trace their activities through 1) my space, 2) laptops, 3) cell phone records, and 4) other.

We have reached a point in which privacy no longer exists, and the question is whether we want to continue this or protect privacy?  George Bush is eager to implement new technologies and methods --RFID chip in passports and national I.D. cards plus the use of military and civilian satellites-- to spy on other Americans.  The Patriot Act also undermines Constitutional liberties and protections such as habeas corpus and the need for warrants to search one's internet records, phone records, financial records, and even a guy's library records.
