Question about Servers and PVP

So...looking to get started but I wanted to make sure i pick the correct server.

 

How does PVP work on the "PVP Servers"?  I assume it's free-for-all...but just how free?  Are you free to kill anyone...people of different race...if there some sort of limit or is it just kill all at all times?

 

Also, what is PVP like on the "Non-PVP Servers"?  None at all?  Flagged only?

I've not played on the PVP server so I'm not sure of the mechanics there, but on the non-PVP servers you have to be in a /duel to fight.

I see.  Seems as if the "Non-pvp servers" are straight up PVE servers.

The pvp server is FFA. They discontinued the faction based server when they consolidated servers.There is no item looting.

Does getting killed in this way have any experience penalties, or any sort of penalties?

Don't bother with PVP on Vanguard cause it's soo unbalanced and full of hackers and just not fun cause they don't care about it or made any effort with it.

hwo would you know, do you play, now i see you making useless, no-point comments on other VG posts....

though yes its unblanced, but what game is perfectly balance...none. people right now tend to stary from it, this si defnitly a big PVE game, if you want PvP i would suggest looking elsewere, but if you like PVE, give it a look

Exactly right.  You can randomly kill anyone, and I believe, at any level.

 

Experience penalties?  Nope.  Although there is some sort of ranking system, but I do not remember what it is called and how it works.

 

When I played, the Druid had an ability that with a single click (presses the [2] button) it could kill any class.  When I quit on the PvP server, I think the Paladin also had something that was that powerful.  I have no idea if that has been fixed or not.

 

Vanguard is a PvE game, and I think it was intended as a PvE game.  Actually, I know it was intended as a PvE game with PvP sort-of tacked-on at release.
