The Orange Box has to win every award this year....

Really for me it's been the only thing worth purchasing this year and with everything else i completed in a few hours and felt ripped off. Like Crysis i played once and thought it was ok but only lasted 10 hours and Bioshock i played once and completed it in 6 hours and the same for COD4 and the COD4 multiplayer is soooooo boring i can't see why it's populated so well.

However with the Orange box...

For people who never played before;

HL2

Episode One

New games;

Episode Two -  The best single player FPS of the year by far because it just built on what made HL2 so great and just somehow made it sooo much better.

Team Fortress 2 - Has to be the best multiplayer game of the year because it's sooo fun and addictive and well balanced with high polish straight out of the box and the animations are just amazing.

Portal - Some say the most innovative game of the year, i don't agree but i do think it's very funny and a suprise hit, just tooo short and doesn't pickup until the 2nd to last level lol.

So i have to say that The Orange Box should be a smash hit, bigger than anything else that sold this year, just a shame it'll be outsold by games like Halo 3 which i found to be sooo overrated.

I feel the exact same way. I rented CoD4 and the singleplayer game was fun and exciting, if not frustratingly hard. After I completed the main game I decided to play the multiplayer because everybody raves on and on about it. . . it just doesn't hold a candle.

Maybe it is my fault for holding multiplayer FPS games to the same level as Team Fortress 2, but everything seems to boring in comparison. TF2 is the ultimate multiplayer FPS game, imo.

eh, Orange box didnt hold my attention thay long at all TBH. It was fun, but team fortress 2 got old, and portal got too frustrating imo. I see why people loved the orange box but it wasnt really for me. Iv spent more time playing Chromehounds and Mass Effect and Forza Motorsport 2 than any game.

BTW: OB is on my card because all iv played this week has been chromehounds

Yeh but your playing it on the 360 and everyone knows it's sooo much better on the PC.

Imo, The Orange Box doesn't even deserve to be nominated for Game of the year.

Sure the orange box comes with 5 games, but 2 of them are quite old. Episode 2 and Portal combined are only about 8 hours worth of content. Team Fortress 2 is great, but it lacks content.

Episode 2 is decent and plays very similar to Half Life 2. Half Life 2 was released 3 years ago and today my expectations are higher. The Combat never feels as intentse as in a game like Call of Duty 4, nor is there any real strategy and many different ways to kill opponents like in Bioshock. In 2007, this just feels stale compared to the previously mentioned games. Also, Episode 2's lacks of new weapons is downright criminal.

Portal is brilliant..but it's still a puzzle game and lacks length, so there isn't a lot to be said about it.

Again Team Fortress 2 is one my favorite multiplayer games, it just lacks content and gamemodes.

The Orange Box is still a great deal, but I can't help but feel that the majority of TOB feels like outdated gameplay mechanics, and the games that do feel new and refreshing are too short. Perhaps it's time Valve stops milking Half Life 2 and starts working on Half life 3 with a brand new engine.

    ..........

    - PC = higher FPS

    - PC = higher Res

    - PC = More players online

    - PC = No lag online

    - PC = Mods

    - PC = Cheaper

    - PC = better controls

PC version is just sooo much better in everyway and your gimped for buying the console version. Also the PC has dedicated online servers where as on the 360 or w/e they're hosted off someones xbox.

Bioshock was just overrated and i didn't like anything about it apart from the setting which could have been done sooo much better if it was a RPG without the horrible feeling FPS they put in it, the guns feel sooo light and the plasmids just arn't fun compared to what Dark Messiah offered.

COD4 is just the same old crap we''ve had since COD, i'm just sooo boring of running and gunning no thinking 4 hour long single player games and the multiplayer is just as boring.

Atleast Episode 2 has abit of everything and characters that you actually care about, also the physics in the source games still can't be beaten by anything else out there today.

AFAIK the console version runs at a 60 framerate per second, what exactly is the use of any higher fps? The game also runs at 1080p HD. True, Team fortress 2 can handle more players on the PC, but aside from Team Fortress 2 the Orange Box is basicly the same as its PC counterpart.

Better controls? I'm going to have to disagree there. Valve did a great job porting the game to the Xbox360 and I never had a single problem playing any of TOB games, in fact I didn't play any worse when I was playing Half Life 2 on the PC. Its really a matter of preference.

Because Half Life 2  is so different from the half life franchise that has been running for 9 years now , right?

Bioshock was awesome imo. It had a full open city to explore, and there are just so many ways I can kill my opponents. I can light them on fire, which will make them panic. The first thing they will do is look for water. As soon as they jump in the water I can bring out my electricity plasmid and electrify them, and that's just one example. I can hack into secuirity cameras or hack into secuirity bots so they will fly around and guard me. I can completely customize my character however I want. None of this is possible in Half Life 2, you just run around with the same old guns. The Gravity Gun is nice but I personally never used it. It takes too long to look around the room to pick up things and for some reason whenever you pick up something, it can be as small as a brick, it stays right in front of your face, blocking your view, Which doesn't make a lot of sense as Gordon freeman carries the gun from his hip.

That would be fine for me if that battles felt epic like in Call of Duty 4. Especialy on the higher difficulty I have to constantly look for cover and decide who to take out first because my character is dead in 2 or 3 shots. in Half Life 2, I never even bothered to look for any kind of cover whatsoever.

Half Life 2 was one of the best FPS of its time but my expectations are higher in 2007.

Having played all of the games except TF2 on both PC and 360, there is only one thing pc has on 360, modded maps for portal. Other than that, they're exactly the same. And TF2 never did it for me. With games like assassin's creed, mass effect, bioshock, and the like, outdated graphics and nothing truly inovative in four of the five games, TOB doesn't have too much of a chance in awards, in my opinion.

TOB just didnt do it for me. I was bored out of my mind with HF2. As for game of the year heres my list.

1-Mass Effect when i started the last part of the game i just couldnt stop the story was just so amazing.

2-CoD4 The story was great Cap Price was the first person who i thought could beat Sgt Johnson from halo in a badass competion.

3-Halo 3 Having read the books i thought the story was great and the online is 2nd to none for me. Well maby CoD4 is better lol.

4-Bioshock- Wow just wow great story and i though combat was amazing.

5-GH3 mostly because it has my favorite song list.

6-Assassians creed The open world stuff is just sweet.

7-LOTRO Sadly i couldnt play it much past launch because my comp sucks but from what i played it was a great game.

Hold on Snow Leopard, imma let you finish, but Windows had one of the best operating systems of all time.

If the Powerball lottery was like Lotro, nobody would win for 2 years, and then everyone in Nebraska would win on the same day.
And then Nebraska would get nerfed.-pinkwood lotro fourms

I haven't played Mass Effect yet, but my game of the year is easily Call of Duty 4...Yes it's yet another First Person Shooter in a sea of FPS, but you find me a game that has more intense battle sequences, and an FPS game with a better, more rewarding multiplayer experience.  The only game that comes close to the rewarding experience of COD4 is the Battlefield series with its unlockable weapons, but Call of Duty 4 does it SOOOO much better.

I never did care for the Orange Box at all.  I didn't like it. Just too damn boring to me

I really liked CoD4. MP is great.  I can't stop playing that game.
