Perfect World=next best thing to wow but F2P

Veteran wow player since 2004, tried so many games P2P and F2P...EQ2, D&DO, Archlord, L2, COH, DOAC, Van,  GW, , POBS, LOTR, Hellgate(not bad if you like FPS), TR (good graphics just lacking something more).  And tried almost all F2P MMO's that didn't look like kid ones.

I just played Perfect World for the last few hours and have to say that it is the best F2P fantasy game out there!

-music ok but not for some

-english quest dialog needs polishing...but, you get the jist of it

You get to fly from lvl 1(Wing Elf) which rocks!  and get pets to help fight in combat no matter your class!

Its a WASD or point and click to move

oh yeah ....to run push left/right mouse keys sametime

spacebar makes you jump really high like in (crouching tiger hidden dragon)

don't bother trying to mine/cultivate resources until you buy a pick for 2k gold...don't worry 2k comes quick

This is true. Find a more polished/complete F2P game that is currently on the market today, you can't do it. There are some issues that need to be ironed out but thats why its still in Open Beta. See for yourselves if you haven't tried it yet, the character customization is INSANE

Nope, only in Asia. You can try playing the version released in malaysia since its in english but i haven't tried yet.

Malaysia is hosting a version for US players and it's in open beta, see above for the link to it

 

Theres like 6 classes, 3 races. the game feels like World of Warcraft but the character customization is definitely the best i've ever seen in an MMO. Territorial Wars looks fun and seems to be the draw for a lot of people I talk to. The quest system is great, there are TONS of them too, don't be fooled because its F2P.

So far the community in-game is very helpful and I've even hopped into a nice guild

nice i'm definitely going to check this out, I've been looking for something to keep me entertained til new games are released. how does the control of it feel? like the movement and smoothness of combat, is it any good? usually asian mmo's feel clumsy to me.

 

edit: oh and how's PvP in it? any end-game stuff too?

only wing elf's get to fly from lvl 1, human and beasts get to fly at lvl 30. but beasts do get to transform into animals, which i believe does give a ground speed boost.

It definitely is a good game though. The only problems for me is that i have to translate english to english cause of the localization is pretty bad, and that they allow kanji characters for names and  chat (which means a) i have no idea what's being said, and b) can't put those people on friends/ignore list (unless i make a copy of the name and use the windows character map to cross compare and find the ascii numbers of the symbols)

that translation stuff should be fixed by its release though right? and they'll probably make an entire US server too right?

I'm not sure if they're making a US server, its possible though. Everyone in-game speaks English from what I could see though. The translation text from NPCs are a little funky but you get the jist of it.

nah item malls are nifty. they don't usually sell items that are unbalanced and make characters supreme, they just make the game a bit easier and more entertaining. i like item malls, it's a pretty good business model. it's better than Fury's and Hellgate's two-tiered subscription model anyways! lol

well i dont  aprove of exp potions or scrolls ala vco and any eastern grinder mmo in anyform or restricting access to areas ala hellgate..i wish they would all do what dungeon runner has done and add adverising to help with keeping the playing field alittle closer.

I dont think there will be any Exp pots/scrolls in PW since i've only seen clothes and mounts in the item mall (special mounts)

6 classes?  Isnt that really terrible or are they highly customizable?

 

And hows the world like, is it small/large, does it have cool locations and landmarks, is it 1 giant world of several smaller ones..

Seriously, it doesn't really seem like an Korean grinder, just go play it yourself, the item mall doesn't inbalance anything at all honestly. The world is pretty big too

I tried Perfect World a couple weeks ago (when the english version that doesn't restrict IPs came out) and I didn't find it to be all that great. The graphics and customization were great but in the end it's just a grind with nothing else to do. Anyways, the graphics are good for a F2P game and better than some P2P games even. You can customize as much as in CoH/CoV, if not more. The actual game play is nothing new though.

Oooshh i think the F2P aspect of this game will be like Runescape; upgrade to members to fully enjoy the game..

Well moving combat hasnt been released yet but i think it will be released in january or february
